Last March, when Patricia Oakley was here in Pune, she mentioned bringing the entire Business Excellence Org together in one place, envisioning it as a great opportunity for interactive and productive days spent as a team. As we worked on budgets and approvals in June, we planned to hold the summit in October, here in Pune. This meant all our friends from the US and UK—33 to 36 people in total—would be joining us. Coordinating flights and accommodations was quite the task, and all credit goes to Lyndsey Robinson for managing it seamlessly within budget. Once it was confirmed for Pune, our local team dove right into planning activities for the week. We created a packed 4-day agenda full of productive sessions, with a fun-filled Goa trip to follow. One of the highlights was evaluating our Clifton strengths, forming teams based on those strengths to ideate solutions to specific problems. The teams tackled everything from root cause analysis to solution development, implementation, and ROI. It was amazing to see the detail and dedication that went into each project. Business Excellence leadership judged the solutions, and the competition was fierce—each team brought impressive, well-thought-out solutions to the table. We also added a bit of fun to the event with awards, a podcast, games, and even a flash mob, all reminding us of our motto: “No Fun without Quality.” Following these sessions were two days of intense planning, budgeting, and preparation for 2025. Finally, the day of our “workcation” arrived, and we landed in Goa. Between meetings at the airport and on the way to the resort, my team gave it their all, handling the packed schedule with patience and understanding. The two days in Goa were filled with laughter, bonding, and deepened connections. We spend nearly 9 hours a day with our colleagues, so it’s natural that over time, they become more than coworkers—they’re family. We planned for 2025 with a fresh perspective, knowing it will be a year of growth, learning, and new strategies.
