The World's Favourite Indian

About us

A journey that began 75 years ago in a corner of India and has since traversed the world over. Uniting people from across countries, cultures, and customs over the years with a multitude of different dreams, there's power in an idea. An idea that gave rise to brands that stood the test of time, with partnerships it inspired, and the people who made it all happen. One idea that sparked a legacy - this is the story of Bajaj Auto. “Do what you think is best, but be the best in what you do.” - Kamalnayan Bajaj These words embody the spirit of Bajaj Auto. From 1945 to today, from “Hamara Bajaj” to “The World’s Favourite Indian”- the most loved motorcycle brand in almost 80 countries, Bajaj Auto carries its rich legacy and unconventional thinking, with a penchant for staunch differentiation. This philosophy has helped us be No.1 or No.2 in over 20 countries with industry-leading EBITDA of ~20%. • At Bajaj Auto Ltd, we are committed to the safety, empowerment, and well-being of our employees. We successfully organized a Self-Defence Training Session for female employees of Chakan Plant 1 & 2, conducted by external trainers Mr. Pramod Bharti (Ex. S.P.G) and Mr. Ashwani Kumar (National Level Wushu Player). The session focused on: Awareness & Prevention Strategies – Recognizing potential threats and ensuring personal safety. Practical Self-Defence Techniques – Hands-on training to counter real-life situations. Situational Exercises – Enhancing reflexes and preparedness. Confidence Building – Instilling courage and mental resilience. We received an overwhelming response from female employees. Their enthusiasm and engagement made the session truly impactful. The practical demonstrations were highly appreciated, and the feedback from all participants was exceptional. A big thanks to the Support Services Team of Chakan Plants for organizing this training and the Plant Management for their continuous encouragement and support in making this initiative a success. #WomenEmpowerment #SelfDefenseTraining #EmployeeWellbeing #SafetyFirst #BajajAuto #TheWorldsFavouriteIndian

  • Our Executive Director of Bajaj Auto Ltd, Rakesh Sharma shares: "We sang our national anthems and inaugurated Bajaj Auto’s 1st overseas manufacturing unit in Manaus, Brazil. Within 6 months the Brazilian team has powered the business ahead of established European and other brands – and at profit. This is what you get by being Mission Led. There is nothing like a mission to turbo charge a corporate, a team or even an individual. I would put as much importance on a mission as on say roles. Roles clarify the scope, or the job but a mission clarifies the purpose, the larger purpose. Most folks believe putting together a mission is the preserve of the CEO and a task for the top. However, it is at its most effective when done through the organisation. I would do it just for personal reasons. But can one define a personal mission whilst being part of a larger team or an Organisation? I got the answers as I witnessed the development of Bajaj’s motorcycle business in Africa. In the early days, Bajaj Auto’s International Business Team was faced with the challenge of building the brand in the face of stiff underpriced Chinese competition across several difficult geographies. Where the customer mindset perceived any commercial transaction as a means of the haves exploiting the have nots – Change was viewed with cynicism, mistrust and wariness. It was decided to secure the advocacy of the mechanic. 50,000 + mechanics had to be trained on the superior features of our bikes across the dusty streeets of Kinshasa, Lagos, Kano, Ibadan, Mwanza, Kampala, Jinja….. Resources were scarce. It was decide to “borrow” service engineers from the domestic business and deploy them across these places every week of the month. The job was to train mechanics in simple maintenance procedures. I used to meet the travelling teams before and after their visits and I found three type of managers : Those that went and did their duty. Those that imparted the training but believed that their real job was to upskill the African mechanic & Those that were mission led. They believed teaching a mechanic to clean a carburettor was just a device to win his trust for the Company & for the brand. They were on a mission of building trust. Through those absorbing debriefs I realised that it was the third set who were not just the most effective but also felt the most fulfilled and were energised to go there again and again and again. Bajaj Boxer became the leading brand across Africa powered and pivoted by these personal missions! Making a personal mission flowing from a corporate vision is very much possible, it’s a great managerial tool, a self management technique, it can be done for a specific purpose or a time period, it is the vital ingredient for personal fulfilment, drive and development. It brings us to the workplace of our own evolution and with vigour. It positions the whole debate around 69/70/90 hour weeks as secondary!" #Brazil #BajajAuto #TheWorldsFavouriteIndian
