He noted that one key advantage of setting up GCCs in Tier-2 cities is the higher retention rate seen in these regions, indicating untapped potential in cities like Mangaluru. • Talent Pool and Expansion: Ms. Priya Prabhu discussed the traditional preference for Tier-1 cities due to the ease of setup and access to a larger talent pool. However, with initiatives from organizations like KDEM promoting emerging tech clusters, companies are increasingly considering locations like Mangaluru. Building Mangaluru’s brand is seen as a crucial step toward attracting more firms to the region. • Scaling Up in Mangaluru: Mr. Jacob Buchardt shared that his company expanded from a team of 50 to over 500 within a short period, thanks to the strong talent pool in Mangaluru. The availability of skilled professionals has significantly facilitated their rapid growth. • Challenges and Opportunities in Recruitment: Mr. Anuj Agrawal pointed out some recruitment challenges in emerging clusters like Mangaluru, including a smaller talent base compared to larger cities, limited connectivity, and the need to enhance the region's brand presence. Despite these challenges, Mangaluru's high literacy rate of 94% provides a skilled workforce, and attracting talent from outside the region is essential for further growth.
