Key takeaways: 1. Dr. Pawan Agarwal emphasized the need for a comprehensive protein literacy policy to educate consumers and if the smart protein is needed as a standalone category. 2. As Rinka Banerjee rightly pointed out, health and nutrition should remain our top priorities. 3. Dr. Jitendra Kumar and Dr. Manish Diwan highlighted the #BIOE3 policy’s support for pilot-scale plants, essential for startups like ours to validate products efficiently. 4. FSSAI officials conveyed that cultivated and fermented proteins will follow the Novel Product route for now, as a dedicated panel is yet to be established. 5. Nilesh Lele and Dr Gurmeet Singh emphasized the nature of protein and the need to bring down the cost for consumer adoption. 6. I shared my thoughts on the need for industry to work alongside regulators and the government to simplify cultivated meat regulations. It's vital to bridge understanding for the progress of this sector, as echoed by Aiyanna Belliappa. A huge thanks to Dr. Priyankana Mukherjee and IKP for this impactful platform and for fostering connections that will help shape the future of food in India. #CultivatedMeat #SmartProtein #IKMC24 #AlternateProteins #Collaboration #BioE3 #Biomanufacturing #Regulatory
