The construction industry is a significant contributor to global waste, with estimates suggesting that it generates around 30-40% of total waste worldwide. Much of this waste, including concrete, metals, wood, and packaging, ends up in landfills, contributing to environmental degradation. For instance, in India alone, construction and demolition (C&D) waste is projected to reach 175 million tonnes by 2030.
Recycling and reusing construction materials can mitigate this issue, reducing waste by up to 50%. Shifting to sustainable practices, like using reusable materials and promoting circular construction processes, can turn this waste into a resource, supporting a cleaner and more sustainable future.

Centre for Environment and Energy Development (CEED) successfully concluded an inspiring Outreach Event & Workshop at Balram Krishan Academy, Mohanlalganj, Lucknow, with a great turnout, insightful sessions and enthusiastic participation in celebration of the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. The event featured Shri Amresh Kumar, MLA, Mohanlalganj, as the Chief Guest, and Shri Khursheed Faarukh, Project Officer, UPNEDA, as the Sector Expert, alongside Dr. Nitu Misra, Principal of Balram Krishan Academy.
Our interactive session offered valuable insights into the importance of the ozone layer, the causes and impacts of ozone depletion, and the collective actions needed to protect it. Students actively engaged, making it an especially dynamic and memorable experience.
A stunning human chain art display, symbolizing the ozone (O₃) molecule and Earth, perfectly captured this year's theme, 'Montreal Protocol - Advancing Climate Actions.' It beautifully represented unity and the need for collaborative efforts to safeguard the ozone layer.
