Workshop on Sustainability & Eco-Bricks for Grade 5 Students - Heritage Xperiential Learning School Sustainability is no longer just a concept—it is a necessity. With growing environmental concerns, it has become imperative to educate young minds about sustainable practices in architecture. We recently conducted an insightful session & hands-on workshop introducing students to the significance of sustainability in architecture & the innovative use of eco-bricks in creating green structures. The session began with an engaging discussion on architecture, its impact on the environment & the importance of using eco-friendly materials, sustainable design & responsible construction methods. Children learned how buildings consume energy, contribute to waste & impact natural resources. One of the highlights of the session was the introduction of eco-bricks—a simple yet powerful solution to plastic waste. To deepen their understanding, the students participated in a hands-on workshop where they got to create their own eco-bricks. They collected plastic waste, filled bottles & compressed the materials to create strong, usable bricks. The enthusiasm & dedication of the children were inspiring as they realized how everyday waste could be transformed into something purposeful. Once the eco-bricks were ready, the students collaborated to design and construct small structures, such as stools, benches & mini walls for green house. They were thrilled to see how simple materials could be combined to build functional and environmentally friendly structures. This workshop was more than just an educational experience—it was an eye-opener for the young minds. The students understood that sustainability is not just about theory but about action. They learned that small steps, like reducing plastic waste & reusing materials, can make a big difference in protecting our planet. Many students expressed their excitement about applying these ideas at home and in their community. Some even brainstormed ways to create larger eco-brick projects within their school, showcasing their eagerness to be young changemakers.
