I had the incredible opportunity to attend the 2024 SAP Design Summit, hosted by SAP and organized by Friends of Figma, Bangalore. It was an exciting day filled with knowledge, creativity, and fun! I connected with inspiring individuals and gained invaluable insights that I’m excited to carry forward into my work. 🎓 My team, Nova (comprising Divyasri Udayakumar and Nandini Sharma), participated in the SAP design challenge in collaboration with the National Institute of Design. The brief? Reframe the higher education system in India with Technological Integration. The challenge was conducted in three phases, culminating in a pitch presentation before the jury at SAP Labs. I’m thrilled to share that we placed as first runners-up! 🎉 A huge thank you to the amazing jury panel for their insightful feedback and constructive criticism, which truly helped us refine our ideas and push our thinking forward. From NID, we’d like to express our gratitude to Nijoo Dubey, Swapnesh Samaiya, and Athul Dinesh FRSA for their thoughtful evaluation and encouraging feedback. From SAP, we’re incredibly grateful to Sandeep Koushik, Shirish Totade, Anirban Dey, and Kai Richter for their guidance and support, helping us see new perspectives and opportunities for improvement. Your expertise and mentorship made a huge impact on our experience, and we’re excited to carry these learnings forward! 🙏 Key Learnings from the event: Sindhu Gangadharan kicked off the event with a powerful keynote, emphasizing that design needs a seat at the table. She reminded us that integrating #UX into every stage of development leads to both design and engineering wins. Arin Bhowmick and Kai Richter delivered a powerful session on how design can be a true competitive advantage, showing how SAP’s design systems and standards impact user experience 💡. Shai Krishna offered hands-on insights into AI tools, addressing key questions about working with large language models. Aparna Kongot and Anirban Dey showcased SAP’s AI Copilot, Joule, highlighting how it effectively resolves user pain points and optimizes the design process. They stressed the importance of designers' ethical responsibilities when integrating AI. Gaurav Mathur discussed the transformative power of generative AI in design. Finally, Siddhartha Sen Choudhary (Sid), Head of frog design, left a lasting impact with his perspective on cultivating a strong design culture within organizations. 🌟 This summit was an incredible experience that reminded me of the growing power of design in solving real-world challenges. With technological advancements like AI becoming more integrated into the design process, we, as designers, are tasked with combining innovation with ethical responsibility to shape the future. I look forward to applying these learnings and contributing to a more thoughtful, inclusive, and tech-driven world of design! #SAPDesignSummit #DesignInnovation #HigherEducation #AIinDesign #UX #DesignThinking
