  • Trigger Warning: Content focussed on Suicide Prevention. Reader Discretion is advised. It gets better, it really does with the right health and the right work. It really does get better. In my late teenage years and early 20s, I got tired of people telling me how this is the time of my life, and I need to enjoy it because it’s just gonna get worse from here, and that added to the hopelessness that I had about my current situation. No degree is worth your life. No relationship is worth your life. Your mental health will get better, you just need the right help and support. If you are struggling to feel hopeful, know that it gets better and there are no set rules to any phase of your life. It depends on you and life is really the choices that you make. There are so many ways in which you can get help whether it’s Therapy and that to different forms of therapy that were not even aware of whether it’s medication, whether it’s spirituality that gives you faith or whether it’s just learning new different ways of coping through a lot of different tools, there are so many different ways Life really is a canvas, and if it doesn’t look promising right now, just know that. It’s just a that it’s just a pause, a semicolon. -Anonymous #mentalhealth #itgetsbetter #suicideprevention

Founder, Huesofthemind | Change Management, Shell | 2x TEDx Speaker; 100+ talks | Published Author | Diana Legacy Awardee | CSM | USAID | The World Bank | One Young World

“Our relationships form one of the biggest determinants of our happiness.” We discuss so many different determinants of success, but something that’s not talked about very often is our environment and the relationships we share. Our relationships influence how we see ourselves and feel about ourselves. It’s but natural, that our environment plays a fundamental role in how we grow. I learnt about the importance of relationships while I was researching for my TEDx talk, and I realised that according to the longest study of happiness by Harvard University, our relationships, determine our happiness. Link of the talk: https://lnkd.in/gBfh3buH “The surprising finding is that our relationships and how happy we are in our relationships has a powerful influence on our health,” said Robert Waldinger, director of the study, a professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. “Taking care of your body is important, but tending to your relationships is a form of self-care too. That, I think, is the revelation.” (Source: The Harvard Gazette) The relationships are not limited to family, but apply to friends, and colleagues and apply to our work relationships as well, because don’t we spend a significant amount of time at our workplaces? Here’s a snap of a very healthy community that I’m a part of, the EnABLE network at Shell because of whom I’ve been able to understand what accessibility means and what are the best practices. I’m actively trying to apply it to different spheres of life; thank you for the work you do. 🌷 Let’s choose our environments wisely. They make all the difference. 🤗 #culture #emotionalintelligence #foodforthought #relationships
