“I have seen the benefits in my own studies and I feel confident that there will be amazing opportunities in my future.” – Sheu Oluwa, Power2 Progress participant Sheu’s parents come from Nigeria and while he was born in Ireland, he strongly embraces his African heritage. Having graduated from the Power2Progress program, he is now studying Computer Science at Dublin City University. Power2Progress (P2P) by University College Dublin was a pilot program operating in 21 schools across Ireland where large numbers of students are at risk of educational disadvantage. The program provided weekly after-school tuition, mentoring, career support, and UCD campus visits. The program aims to break inter-generational disadvantage, demystify higher education, and build educational resilience. Each student received a laptop, which remains with the schools to enhance their digital infrastructure and improve learning experiences for future students. P2P also aims to influence future education policy in Ireland for sustained impact for generations to come. Supported by the Z Zurich Foundation Rethink Ireland and Zurich Ireland, P2P is striving for a fairer and more equitable educational system through collaborative intervention, research, and policy engagement. #SocialEquity #EducationalResilience 📷Paul Moore, Nick Bradshaw
