The International Arbitration and Mediation Centre, Hyderabad, conducted a mediation training programme specifically tailored for the advocates of Telangana on 14 September 2024. Honourable Sri Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy, judge, High Court for the State of Telangana, graced the event as Chief Guest. He delivered an inspiring inaugural address, highlighting the transformative journey of mediation and encouraging advocates to consider mediation before resorting to litigation. The training was led by Mr. Jawad A J, Senior Mediator-Trainer for the Supreme Court of India’s Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC), who ensured highly engaging and insightful sessions for all the participants. Mr. Tariq Khan, Registrar, IAMC, Hyderabad, in his concluding remarks, extended his gratitude to everyone for taking this initiative, emphasizing that Mediation is here to stay. Hon’ble Mrs. Justice Surepalli Nanda, Judge, High Court for the State of Telangana, delivered the opening remarks for the event, highlighting the benefits of mediation and the importance of access to justice. The paper provides a comprehensive review of the evolution of mediation laws in India, leading to making of the Mediation Act, 2023. Additionally, the paper examines the United Nations' Singapore Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation, highlighting its key aspects and global impact.
