About us
IEEE Pune Section (R0 01 20) was established on June 26, 2010, with terrestrial boundaries confined to Pune Metropolitan City (Postal Code 411001 to 411999) The section falls under the jurisdiction of Asia Pacific Region (R-10) of IEEE. Prior to that, it was the subsection of IEEE Bombay section since June 20, 2003, till its formation. At present, the Pune section has more than 2500+ members, including student members, professional members and life members. There are 24 IEEE Student Branches in different Colleges in and around Pune City.

In honour of the Founder President of Hope Foundation and Research Centre (HFRC) Pune, Shri Pralhad P. Chhabria (Founder Chairman of Finolex Group of Companies), the Shri Pralhad P. Chhabria Awards were constituted in 2017 in association with the Hope Foundation and Research Centre, IEEE India Council, the Women in Engineering Affinity Group, and the IEEE Pune Section. About the Awards: The Shri Pralhad P. Chhabria Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of young women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). These prestigious awards are dedicated to empowering women in STEM and recognizing their contributions to society. Award Categories: 1) Best Graduate Student: Winner and Runner-Up awards for exceptional undergraduate female students in Science, Technology, or Engineering. These awards honor academic excellence, contributions to the institute, and community involvement. 2) Best Woman Professional - Early Career Stage: Winner and Runner-Up awards for young women who have significantly contributed to technological, economic, and social development in the nation. Details of the awards are available on the website: www.hfrc-ieeeawards.org. There are two Winners and two Runner-Up awards. Winners will receive prize money of INR 1,25,000/- (Rupees One Lakh Twenty-Five Thousand Only) along with a medal and citation. Runner-Ups will receive prize money of INR 50,000/- (Rupees Fifty Thousand Only) along with a medal and citation. Award Nominee Requirements: - Current IEEE member or must have held IEEE membership for at least one continuous year within the previous two years from the year of application. - If the applicant's IEEE membership has lapsed at the time of application, they may still apply based on prior membership.
