Meet Preeti and her family—one of the millions of stories that remind us why we do what we do at Indus Action. When we step into communities, we discover stories of hope, determination, and transformation. Preeti's journey with her 4-year-old daughter Anya shows how one welfare entitlement can change an entire family's trajectory. Like many parents from economically weaker sections, Preeti and her husband Ajay hadn't dared to dream of sending their daughter to a prestigious school. Ajay works long hours at a printing press, while Preeti manages their home and cares for Anya and her 10-month-old brother. But when one of our community champions, Santoshi, connected with Preeti, everything changed. We witnessed firsthand how information about RTE 12(1)(c) quota can spark hope. More importantly, we saw how crucial ground-level support is—from helping Preeti obtain her income certificate to guiding her through the application process. When Anya secured admission through the lottery, it wasn't just a seat gained—it was a family transformed. Today, Anya loves school so much that she cries on holidays! Her parents are more engaged in her education, creating new bonds through learning. "Our family feels different now. We're all learning together," says Preeti, her pride evident in every word. This is why we believe in the power of community-first approach. Every day, we meet families like Preeti's who just need that one bridge to access their rightful entitlements. When we unlock these opportunities, we don't just change individual lives—we transform entire families and communities. #IndusAction #RTE #WelfareEntitlements #CommunityFirst #Education #SocialImpact #InclusiveEducation

About us
Indus Action was founded with the vision of solving India's deep-rooted problems via public policy. The organization seeks to identify the wide gaps that exist in policy framing and their grassroots implementation. It also aims to mobilize public resources and empower communities to bridge that gap. Indus Action's first campaign was launched in 2013 to support the effective implementation of Section 12(1)(c) of the Right to Education Act, 2009. Under this section it is mandatory for unaided, non-minority private schools to reserve at least 25% of seats in Nursery, KG and Class 1 for children belonging to disadvantaged and economically weaker sections.

We're excited to share an impactful field visit from our team! Swarnali Das from the East Zone team travelled to Jashpur with the NIC team to gather valuable feedback from labourers on the Chhattisgarh Labour website and the Shramev Jayate mobile app. During the visit, we captured heartening footage of workers engaging with these digital tools — moments later featured at the CM-Event in Raipur. Most importantly, our ground insights led to immediate action! The Labour Inspector organised a registration camp the very next day. This is exactly what we at Indus Action strive for - bridging gaps between digital solutions and the communities they serve while catalysing quick, responsive governance. 💪 #DigitalInclusion #LastMileImpact #LabourRights

We're excited to share that our Care To Play team embarked on an enriching exposure visit to Kolkata, hosted by Trickle Up India Foundation! The visit focused on deepening our understanding of the Graduation Approach and its implementation across different contexts. Our team spent three immersive days learning from two innovative projects: 🏭 The WINGS Project: Operating in Kolkata's semi-urban dock areas, this year-old initiative has empowered women entrepreneurs in tailoring, livestock farming, retail, and jewellery making. ♿ The LEADS Project: This flagship initiative in rural Howrah District has transformed the lives of 1,000 People with Disabilities through social protection and livelihood support over the past three years. The visit culminated in our team drafting an initial version of the Trickle Up transition strategy for the Care to Play programme, building on insights from field interactions with project managers, coordinators, frontline workers, and program participants. Grateful to Trickle Up India Foundation for hosting this valuable learning exchange! #SocialImpact #GraduationApproach #Livelihoods #InclusiveDevelopment #IndusAction

Making entitlements accessible, one community at a time! 🌟 We're proud to share how our community champion, meenu prakash, recently transformed lives in Kirari, Delhi, through a dedicated camp. Working tirelessly with her team, she guided elderly residents through pension applications, making complex processes simple and approachable. The impact? 14 senior citizens are now on their way to receiving monthly support through the Delhi Old Age Pension Scheme. Two widows completed their applications for the Widow Pension Scheme, opening doors to financial independence. We also spread awareness about the Disability Pension Scheme, ensuring no one is left behind. But we didn't stop there! Our team went door-to-door, reaching over 40 households with crucial information about pension schemes and documentation requirements. Because sometimes, support needs to meet people where they are. And all of this was done in just a few hours! Every form filled, question answered, and smile exchanged reminds us why we do what we do. These aren't just applications—they're stepping stones to dignity and security for our community members. Together, we're building bridges to hope, one application at a time. 💪 #IndusAction #CommunitySupport #SocialImpact #Pensions #DelhiNCR #FinancialInclusion #Empowerment

Did you know that over INR 43,000 crore of Building and Other Construction Workers (BoCW) welfare funds remain unutilised across India? Meanwhile, millions of construction workers continue to face economic hardships. We at Indus Action are working closely with state governments to unlock these dormant funds and strengthen social security for our construction workers. Through our research and on-ground implementation, we've identified key systemic barriers and developed practical solutions to improve fund utilisation. Our findings show that streamlining registration processes, digitising workflows, and enhancing awareness can significantly increase welfare delivery to eligible workers. We're already seeing promising results in states adopting these recommendations. Want to learn how we can transform welfare delivery for India's construction workers? Read our comprehensive report: https://lnkd.in/gS75SA3d Together, we can ensure that welfare funds reach those who need them most. #ConstructionWorkers #SocialSecurity #WelfareDelivery #IndiaPolicy #BoCW
