On this International Day of Care, IWWAGE - an initiative of LEAD at Krea University recognises and honors the vital role of #care work across India and around the world, especially women's contributions shouldering the lion’s share of unpaid and under-valued care responsibilities. - In India, the #time spent by women on unpaid care work is more than three times as compared to men- this opportunity cost severely impacts women's #economic participation. - Reduction in #unpaid care responsibilities through redistribution within the household and institutional support empowers women to enter the workforce, leading to a significant increase in #GDP. - Policies that support #flexible work, accessible #childcare, and paid caregiving leave are crucial to create a fair and balanced system for everyone. - Investment in the #care economy can create decent #employment opportunities for women while also responding to the ever-increasing demand for quality care. Watch this video to hear from our team members about what care work looks like for them on a day-to-day basis. We are committed to building a world that values care work and redistributes these responsibilities equitably. http://bit.ly/4hrDagS LEAD at Krea University | Sharon Buteau | Radha Chellappa | Sona Mitra | Preethi Rao | Bidisha Mondal | Moumita Sarkar | Sruthi Kutty | Prakriti Sharma | Mridusmita Bordoloi | Arpita Paul | Aneek Chowdhury | Sayak Sinha | Pallavi Duggal | Karunakar Rao | Surabhi Awasthi | Vidhi Singh | Divya Singh Kohli | Jyotsna Raju | Rashmi Mohanty | Neeraj Upadhyay | Preeti Bawa | Diksha Singh | Keerthana R. | #InternationalDayOfCare #UnpaidWork #PaidWork #IWWAGE #PolicyChange #GenderEquality #InclusiveEconomy #IDC2024
