We were pleased to welcome 41 students from the Regional Labour Institute (RLI) to Manali Petrochemicals Ltd. (MPL) as part of their curriculum to learn about the best safety practices adopted in the petrochemical industry. RLI conducts a comprehensive one-year Safety Diploma Course, affiliated with the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Tamil Nadu, designed to prepare future safety professionals. These students, aspiring to become certified Safety Officers under Section 40-B of the Factories Act, 1948, visited our facility as a part of their on-ground training and exposure. The course structure includes multiple site visits, enabling them to gain firsthand experience and familiarize themselves with the latest advancements in industrial safety. During their visit, the students had the opportunity to observe our robust safety systems and risk management strategies, developed to uphold the highest safety standards in petrochemical operations. They were taken through various safety protocols and equipment management systems, which are critical to ensuring the safety of our employees and maintaining operational efficiency. We believe such interactive and experiential learning sessions play a crucial role in shaping the perspectives of the next generation of safety professionals. It was our privilege to contribute to their educational journey, and we are confident that this experience at MPL will significantly enhance their understanding of industrial safety standards, inspiring them to uphold best practices in their future roles. We conducted an insightful awareness program on ISO 45001:2018 implementation, a globally recognized standard for occupational health and safety management that ensures a safer and healthier workplace. Leading the session was Mr. S. Ramakrishnan from DNV, a lead auditor trainer with over 20 years of experience. Having completed more than 4000 lead audits and numerous CQI_IRCA trainings, he provided invaluable guidance on effectively integrating safety practices into our operations. World Ozone Day at MPL In 1994, the UN General Assembly declared 16th September as the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer or World Ozone Day. The ozone layer sits in the stratosphere 15 km to 30 km above the earth and shields living things from the sun's harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Ozone depleting (ODP) substances include Chlorofluorocarbons, Hydrochlorofluorocarbons, Halons, Methyl bromide, carbon tetrachloride and methyl chloroform, among others. As a part of our sustainability focus, we successfully phased out 1st generation ODP substance, CFC-11 from our production process in 2010. This was followed by the phasing out of a 2nd generation ODP substance, HCFC 141b in 2020. We have aggressively reduced the consumption of Hydrochlorofluorocarbons and follow the India Cooling Action Plan. This World Ozone Day, we took our commitment a step further with an awareness initiative presided over by Mr. @Saravanan C – Manager, Environment. This was followed by an oath-taking ceremony where we pledged to make efforts for the preservation of the ozone Layer. We, further resolved to be ozone friendly citizens and restrict and control the emission of ODPs to protect Mother Earth and conserve natural resources for the future generations.  #Ozone #WorldOzoneDay #Sustainability #MPL
