I'm excited to share our latest project—a brand-new ad for Lazza Icecreams! This project is particularly special to me because I got the chance to work with the incredibly talented team at Maitri Advertising Works P Ltd (raju menon, Venugopal R Nair, Vincent Vadakkan, Francis Thomas, Ajay Syama Sathyan, Sumith G, Antu Sony, Ananthakrishnan, Nirmal Thomas and Vignesh). Since the beginning of my career, collaborating with Maitri has been on my wish list, so this opportunity was extremely satisfying. We completed the ad in 10 days after our initial discussions, which was no small feat. Huge thanks to my team at Meisterverse, especially Sohal Mohamed, for their relentless efforts to make it happen. We were fortunate to have some of the best talents on board, and we are deeply grateful for their flawless execution and commitment. A special shout-out to Lazza for their bold move to create a quirky, fun ad featuring influencers. In partnership with AVT McCormick, we had the honor of creating this impactful video that highlights the extraordinary resilience and empowerment of women farmers across India. "Silent Architects of Change" is more than just a film – it’s a celebration of the silent revolution taking place across the fields of India, led by women who are breaking barriers, nurturing their communities, and sowing the seeds of a brighter, more inclusive future. Covering the bold stories of women from Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana, this project showcases the diversity and strength of women farmers across the nation. Through this project, we aimed to not only capture their stories but to amplify their voices, recognizing their contribution as the true architects of positive change. We’re incredibly proud to have been part of this journey and to help share their stories with the world. Every conversation and every talk is yet another fantastic opportunity to learn something new. As they say, marketing in India is not for beginners. We are a nation with 22 official languages, 66 major scripts, and over 700 dialects! Thanks, afaqs! for the Festival of Indian Languages (FOIL) Conference last Friday. Brilliant gathering deciphering how vernacular marketing & advertising is now a table stake for building great brands in India. Indian local brands have not just gone national but are a force to reckon with worldwide. It was great meeting VKC Razak and learning about the 40-year-old brand's journey from producing 600 pairs of footwear a day to 6 Lakh pairs a day. A humble being from Calicut to becoming one of India’s largest footwear brands with 2,100 crore+ in revenue. Marketers Insight: VKC Group, India focussed very early in its marketing journey on building trust amongst its consumers with regional marketing, the use of vernacular language, and local celebrities as influencers as early as in the 90s. The most engaging Pannel discussion was the one with brands, media houses, and advertising agencies talking about cultural insights and the use of regional language in creating impactful campaigns. Fantastic listening to you folks: Aparna Giridhar, puneet kapoor, Raktim Das, Sai Karthik, Santosh Hegde, Sushma R Rao Neha Tandon Interesting takeaways: Media innovation – the use of Light Art as outdoor media by Myntra x Talented.Agency hinged on local cultural nuances of Tamil Nadu. Regional campaigns by Licious for different markets with vernacular content doing better than a national campaign with a big celeb ambassador, and Swiggy’s approach to using regional communication agencies and briefing & brainstorming in the local language of the target geo to spark better ideas. While there were several other insightful panel discussions, the insightful brand journey of Cycle Pure Agarbathi with Arjun Ranga CEO & MD of N. Ranga Rao & Sons Pvt. Ltd. was very engaging. The 75-year-old brand today which does business in 75 countries makes 12 billion incense sticks a year or as Ranga Rao puts it powers 6 Billion prayers a year. It all began with a determined entrepreneur begining his journey from the city of Mysore. Marketers Insight: Whether you are the brand manager, planner, creative, or account manager, go spend time with the customers. IMHO this advice can never get old for therein lies the holy grail of impactful marketing, knowing your customers, traders, and retailers.
