About us

Mycelium Ecology is on a mission to develop community projects with the sole purpose of conserving bio-diversity within the Western Ghats. We are a group of individuals who believe in investing in our children's future by owning and conserving rapidly depleting bio-diverse habitats. There is a need to do this now more than ever! An increase in demand for plantation produces, development required to complement growth, unplanned urbanization, and development projects without clearly observing its long-term impact are a reality in the Western Ghats today. We are losing precious native components within this complex ecosystem in front of our eyes. Our approach is to create knowledge, conversations, spaces & installations for future generations to reflect.

We are revisiting words of wisdom from our conservation with Aruna Rangachar Pohl and Pranay Lal, exploring the fascinating Story of the Western Ghats. Pranay Lal illustrates how even the smallest disruptions, right down to the microbial level, can ripple through ecosystems, ultimately impacting our own urban lives in ways we may not immediately realize. It becomes increasingly clear that the Western Ghats are not some distant wilderness, but our very own backyard. Protecting and honoring this unique ecosystem then goes beyond just conservation; it's about safeguarding the balance that supports life, including our own and investing in a healthier, more harmonious future for ourselves and the generations to come. We often spotlight our Collective Members — their dreams, visions, and the decisions that led them to Dancing Frog Habitat. But when you look closer, you’ll see how each family member’s unique aspirations come alive. Whether it’s Sarita’s passion of painting amidst nature or Akshath’s excitement to explore new jungle trails — Prem Kumar Vadapalli family’s collective dream is finally within reach. There’s no greater joy than knowing that Dancing Frog Habitat, and the projects to come, serve as dream vehicles for those who share our passion for a nature-immersed lifestyle. While you nurture your vision of a life surrounded by nature, you can leave the ‘how’ to us. Our Collective is growing quickly, with only six Residences remaining. If you’re ready to take the next step, reach out. We’d love to have a conversation about Joining the Collective. Vinod Chandramouli | Nishanth Prasannan

Can we think of investment in nature differently? In today’s world, it’s crucial to integrate our most valuable asset — the Earth, into all long-term decisions. After all, the earth we invest in today is the one our children will inherit tomorrow. Arun Mani and Harpreet Singh Grover are leading this charge by sharing their 2024 investment principles, which consider the implications for future generations, the availability and abundance of precious resources like freshwater and the overall preservation of our planet and its inhabitants. With sustainable investments in India projected to reach $125 billion by 2026, we’re thrilled to be a small part of this transformative shift via projects like Dancing Frog Habitat If you share our passion for conservation, we invite you to Join Our Collective. 🌿 Celebrating Two Years of Mycelium Ecology! 🌿   Two years ago today, we announced Mycelium Ecology to the digital world—two incredible years of growth, learning, and impact. When Nishanth Prasannan, Abhishek, and I began this journey, our vision was to protect and conserve our precious Western Ghats by harmoniously coexisting with nature. Today, I am thrilled to share some numbers highlighting important milestones in our journey.  Here is Mycelium Ecology in numbers:    • 1.5 Million Dollars raised for conservation. With the support from our investors and collective members, we have secured critical funds to conserve and coexist with our natural habitats.  • 70 acres of ancient forest protected for generations. Our efforts have ensured the preservation of these irreplaceable ecosystems, providing a safe haven for countless species.  • 8 like-minded collective members onboarded. We have built a passionate and dedicated group of custodians of the ancient forest who are committed to our mission.  • 400+ requests to join our collective (only 6 more units to go). The enthusiasm and interest in our model have been overwhelming, and we are excited to welcome more members to our collective.  • 5 community treks at Dancing Frog Habitat. These treks have not only connected us with nature but also with each other.  • 200+ species observed and catalogued. Our conservation efforts have allowed us to document and protect diverse species.  • 1 unique gathering to hear Pranay Lal and Aruna Rangachar Pohl speak about the Western Ghats. This memorable event highlighted the importance of the Western Ghats and inspired many to join our cause.  • 8 passionate team members who add tremendous value to execute our vision. (Anish A, Arjjun Aiyar, Roshni Daniel, Srividya Sivakumar, PhD, Shreya Rao, Alok Sharma )  • 3000+ followers on social media with a vibrant community being built. This gratifying journey has been the best days of my professional career and the treks at Dancing Frog Habitat have been the most enriching days of my personal life. Our movement has only just begun. Here’s to many more years of growth, conservation, and community building. It’s always a special moment when we welcome a new Collective member who takes pride and delight in conserving biodiversity in the Western Ghats, as Prem Kumar Vadapalli does. Having spent over 30 years in the corporate world, it’s the hope of preserving this pristine forest and gifting it, as it is, to future generations that drew him in to Dancing Frog Habitat. This is only possible as stakeholder and collaborator within the Collective where we come together to uphold the core vision of harmonious coexistence with this ancient environment. What started with the simple pleasures and peace of bird watching in the city, has now led him to create a space for himself and his family where they can live amongst and safeguard several fascinating species, for generations to come. We are incredibly grateful and excited to begin this journey with Premkumar and his family. And with that, we now have only 6 Residences remaining at India’s first Conservation Collective! When we first met Arun Mani, he brought up the 5 Cs that he lives by and we were truly intrigued with how simple yet meaningful this framework was. In our Mycelium Dialogues episode with Arun, we asked him to elaborate on these guiding principles for our viewers. 🌱 Compassion 🌱 Curiosity 🌱 Connection 🌱 Creativity 🌱 Courage Each of these 5 Cs has been added intentionally and it was a pleasure to understand the thought process behind them. While these are the 5 Cs Arun has chosen for himself and his family, we’d love to know the 5 Cs that are relevant to your life! Tell us 🙌🏼 Catch the whole episode at https://lnkd.in/g3AP3zcK Vinod Chandramouli

It’s always fascinating to delve into the mind of a global citizen like Arun Mani And that’s exactly what we did during episode 2 of Mycelium Dialogues - Tracing Roots: Back to India via Nature. From Manhattan to Madikeri, Arun explains the contrasts between his childhood in India and his life abroad. Despite having lived in numerous countries across the world, we are thrilled that he has found a home deep in the forests of the Western Ghats, with the Collective at Dancing Frog Habitat. What if we valued the life-long abundance that comes with living an ancient forest over the momentary status of living in the same neighbourhood as Bollywood celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan or Amitabh Bachchan? Consider this: • Quick access to the city’s largest mall vs. to a perennial freshwater source • Waking up to the sound of traffic vs. to the melody of birdsong • Evenings at a 2-acre park vs. walks in a 70-acre forest Yes, in an ideal world one should have both. But if you’re at a crossroads, then we urge you to make the choice that will nourish you and your loved ones and Join the Collective! 🌱 We have only 6 residences remaining 🙌🏼 So if you feel the call, reach out to us and we’ll take it from there! #conservation #westernghats #forestliving #greeninvestment #fyp Vinod Chandramouli
