Almost there, and yet so far ! Over the past 50 days our teams have been actively engaged in executing our first 1 MWp Rooftop Solar Project. The process of building this project has taught us a whole lot about the ground level challenges in implementing Solar projects in India which can match European standards. Sharing a few of the learnings so that we can all take a collective step in this direction : 1) Finding a client whose mindset aligns with your outlook towards a project is necessary. As much as you might try, you will never be able to deliver world class quality at the wholesale cost of raw materials + 3% 2) Establish a reference of what you want to achieve. Whatever happens don’t deviate from this. Commiting internally to delivering the best quality is as hard as it to convince external stakeholders. 3) Over-communicate to reinforce the desired outcome of your project. Have regular checks in place to arrest even inadvertent deviations from what you commit to deliver. 4) Value your vendors. They work for 8-10 hrs in conditions where it’s difficult to stand for more than 15 mins 🙏 If you’ve never been to an installation site and don’t know how hard installing 40 solar panels in a straight line on a metal roof can actually be - go to one today. 5) Create stories around every project. Build narratives. Repeat them often Execution becomes boring after a while. Storytelling makes it interesting, for everyone 🙂 - And most importantly, take lots and lots of photographs ! Stories get old. Images live on forever 🙋♂️ #Solar #Rooftop #aBetterWay Ornate Solar

Solar 101 💡 Transparent and semi-transparent Building-Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) are new ways to use solar energy in buildings. Unlike traditional opaque solar panels, transparent BIPV allows natural light to pass through while converting a portion of the solar spectrum into electricity. It means buildings can have natural light and clean energy both at the same time. These modules integrate photovoltaic technology into transparent surfaces like windows and facades, maximizing architectural space by harnessing solar energy from previously underutilized areas. This innovative technology enables the transmission of visible light while efficiently converting ultraviolet and infrared light into electricity, offering a dual-purpose solution for energy generation and architectural design enhancement. #OrnateSolar #Solar101 #solarenergy

Collaborating with Havells India Ltd has been an outstanding learning experience. Here's to thriving and growing together! . . #OrnateSolar #Solarenergy #SolarInverters

The journey from Assam, Orissa and Jharkhand to Portugal. When we approached Havells India Ltd to sell their Solar Inverters in March-21, the only territories that were unrepresented at the time were in the North East. A major reason for this was that these were largely offgrid markets, with limited potential for Grid connected Solar projects. So when we agreed to take on the challenge to sell Havells’ On-Grid inverters in these regions, a lot of people asked us how it made business sense. I would reply in jest - that since we didn’t do very well in the Havells entrance exam, we only got admission to the lower branches. Just like the JEE, and the reason behind my studying Metallurgy at BHU. But just like in college, where you get the chance to change your branch if you work hard enough, I figured if we put in our best efforts maybe things would work out. I had to toil through 4 years of Metallurgy at BHU, but Havells was kinder and gave us the chance to sell in Uttar Pradesh in a little under a year 😊 In the two years since then we haven’t just sold a whole lot of inverters, we’ve also made great friends and found great mentors. But most of all, we’ve had the chance to learn the fundamentals of building a great business. Seeing first hand what goes into making a global brand, and how keeping relationships at the core of any business is essential to growth. All while retaining the humility and grace that defines the millions of Indians who place their trust in Havells. - Sheryl Sandberg once said, “If you’re offered a seat on a rocket ship, don’t ask what seat. Just get on!” I don’t know much about rocket ships, but to anyone who might be considering selling Havells products anywhere in India, I can confidently say ; “Don’t ask which territory, just get on” 🇮🇳 You won’t just learn a whole lot about business. You’ll also learn invaluable lessons of life. This goes out to all the friends, mentors and leaders at Havells who have taken us from the North Eastern corner of India all the way to Portugal Thank you! from all of us at Ornate Solar 🙏
