    As the founder of Pegasus Aerospace , I strongly believe that indigenization is the cornerstone for the long-term sustainability and security of the Indian drone market. While the low cost of Chinese components may seem attractive to some players in the industry, the hidden risks and potential vulnerabilities these parts carry far outweigh any short-term financial gains. The recent news about the Defence Ministry's steps to curb the use of Chinese components highlights a critical issue that has been plaguing the industry for years. Relying on foreign parts, especially from nations with geopolitical sensitivities, compromises not only the integrity of our unmanned systems but also national security. At Pegasus Aerospace, we are dedicated to maintaining at least 70% indigenization in the onboard avionics and all critical components of our drones because we understand that building a robust, secure, and self-reliant supply chain is crucial for India's future in defense and commercial drone operations. The Defence Ministry’s move to curb the use of Chinese components is a timely and necessary step. However, competing with companies that prioritize short-term cost savings by opting for cheaper Chinese parts is undermining the value of high-quality, indigenous products. This approach dampens the efforts of genuine manufacturers who are committed to long-term national and technological security. I believe that if the Indian drone market and key industry players come together as one, we can collectively develop and achieve indigenization at scale. This unified effort will not only solve the current challenges but will also create a sustainable and secure future for the industry.
