It's great to see Lightspeed recognize the next frontier of innovation in Robotics and Perceptyne as a potential key player. We echo the view that it is indeed general purpose, AI driven, dexterous robots that need less of programming and have more of intelligence that are the future. Multimodal AI frameworks are certainly the best way to make this possible. That said, these models are only as good as the robots they are deployed on. They can be very effective if deployed on robots that can truly give them the rich sensory data (Vision, Touch and Force) that they need and are easily human tele-operable for training. This is where we come in: Making robots that are a fusion of MultiModal AI frameworks, rich sensory modalities (Vision, Touch, Force) and tele-operability for human led robotic data collection. On the hardware front, while robotic arms and image sensors may have reached a reasonable level of maturity, there is still a lot of gap on high DoF end effectors, especially with fine tactile sensing, which Perceptyne is quite methodically filling.
