    September 9 - Himalaya Day The glaciers of the Himalayas, the birthplace of rivers like the Ganges, Yamuna, and Brahmaputra, serve as a water source for 600 million Indians which is drying up rapidly.   According to the 2018 Niti Aayog report, 50% of Himalayan springs are on the verge of extinction. Let's raise our voices against development projects including highway projects, large hydroelectric projects and mining projects in the ecologically significant and sensitive Himalayas.     On July 27, 2024, a one-day training program for rural volunteers was organized at AICUF in Nungambakkam, Chennai. The full-day event, held from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., saw the participation of over 55 volunteers from approximately 20 districts, with women making up a quarter of the attendees. The sessions included an overview of the science of climate change, a discussion on the village-level circular economy led by former Panchayat President Mr. Elango, and presentations on the impacts of climate change, climate actions, and related legislation.

    Muthuvenil Koodugai, a three-day event held on June 7th, 8th, and 9th, 2024, was organized by Poovulagin Nanbargal in celebration of World Environment Day on June 5th. The event took place at Discovery Book Palace, KK Nagar, and began with the unveiling of photographs by the PN team and art training sessions for children. Performances such as traditional music with environmental and social aspects were featured by bands such as Otra Sevaru, Comrade Talkies, and Banned. The event also hosted notable speakers including Tratsky Maruthu, S.R. Kathir, Akila, Osai Kalidhas, Paamayan, and director Vasantha Balan. A significant highlight was screening the documentary "The Dark Face of Electricity," which focuses on the NLC. Attracting many new attendees over the three days, the event's reach was amplified through Instagram and other social media platforms. Additionally, it was graced by the presence of Minister Mano Thangaraj.
