About us
The Sociology Group originated in 2017, initially started by one person. We began as individual members, and now it has evolved into a group of individuals. This growth highlights our journey from a single individual’s initiative to a collective community. We are known for creative initiatives like social stories, where we share students’ academic journeys and experiences, whether it is success or failure. We aim for individuals to create an impact on society with their stories. We also conduct “Meet the Professor” interviews, where we have amazing conversations with professors, asking questions about their research, books, and teaching experiences. Essentially, it is to connect professors and our readers on this open free platform. We write book reviews and interview amazing authors to learn about their books and experiences. We help students with our articles and essays in their academics, and we entertain and raise awareness with our memes on social media. Being a student myself this article was a bit easy for me to write. I also had to move out to a new city for further studies. Hence, I was able to relate to the survey responses. Students, whether living away from their house or living with their parents, face numerous challenges that impact their academic and personal lives. However, in this article, I have covered about the ten most common problems through a survey of around 50 students from various cities. My take on Reservation system: Good read, Aditi Jha! Your insights highlight the complexities of caste and reservations. First and foremost, I am an unwavering supporter of the reservation system for marginalised sections of society. Historically, these communities have faced severe discrimination, and positive discrimination is essential to uplift them. However, it is crucial to acknowledge the blatant misuse of reservation benefits by the already uplifted and elite class within these marginalised groups. The original intent of reservations was to uplift the downtrodden, but now, it often benefits those who have already advanced. ### Here’s what needs to change: The reservation system should prioritize individuals who genuinely need affirmative action to break free from societal shackles. The government must crack down on the misuse of reservations through fake documents, especially in the OBC and EWS categories. It is essential to address the injustice within marginalised communities. The benefit of reservation must be given to those truly deserving within SC/ST/OBC communities. The reservation system needs a thorough review to ensure that its benefits reach deserving individuals. It’s time for a fair and just system that serves its intended purpose. #Reservation
