Facilitating Sustainable Learner-Centric Thriving Communities

About us

Vision: Advancing gender equality through education. Mission: To provide holistic quality education, ensuring every girl has the opportunity to thrive. Current work: - Introduction of KGBV Program: KGBV program started in 2004 with a vision of providing access of quality education to the girls belonging to unprivileged section (SC, ST, OBC and BPL) of the society predominantly in difficult areas. It provides 75% of seats for girls belonging to SC, ST, OBC or minority communities and priority for the remaining 25% is accorded to girls from families below poverty line. The scheme is being implemented in 27 states/UTs and 3609 KGBVs by Government of India in 460 districts as on 30th June 2014 (MHRD, 2015). Problem: - The teachers and student community of KGBVs exist in isolation with lack of acknowledgement, lack of quality in-service support, minimum expectations from these girls and their voices not being heard are some of the issues which we are trying to work on. Intended solution: - We intend to aim at whole school transformation of these KGBVs primarily focusing on: - - Facilitating creation of thriving communities of KGBV teachers, girls and systemic stakeholders, which could help them transform their school. Education remains as a central transformative tool for the same. - Creating a support system for the KGBVs and it becomes part of their in-service support system - Making their voices heard and getting people together aligned with the cause.

Invisible. Disregarded. Written off. That’s the reality for tens of millions of girls in the poorest, most remote parts of India. Luckily there is SwaTaleem Foundation, Ananya Tiwari, PhD, and Vaibhav Kumar. They see these girls. They value them. And they work with them to break this cycle of oppression. SwaTaleem supports the most vulnerable girls in India, teaching them crucial life skills that go beyond the classroom. And they use innovative technology to bridge school and home, involving parents so they are part of their daughters’ learning and see the value of educating girls. The result? Empowered girls, informed families and stronger communities. That's change that lasts! Thank you for helping us support this amazing organization. Let’s do it again! You can donate from anywhere in the world, using this link : https://lnkd.in/dJbQxM8c #GenderEquality **You might see Social Impact Fund as the name of the nonprofit for donations. We concluded our 5-day Internal Team Workshop today. As it was the final day, we focused on reflecting and gathering feedback from team members. The main emphasis was on practicing the English Bridge Course modules, with module demos and a reflection session to close the day. It was a valuable experience for the team to dive deeper into their roles and gain a clearer understanding of each aspect. This reflective time was also insightful, as we discussed various field observations, interventions, and stakeholder engagement in more detail. We're excited for the next workshop and the opportunity for more enriching sessions and reflections. #SwaTaleem #TeamBuilding #FieldInsights #Workshop #GrowthAndLearning

Today marks the second day of the Internal Team Workshop! We kicked off this 5-day workshop on 27th September at Indus Action, Lajpat Nagar, Delhi and will continue until 1st October. Our incredible Field Team—Cluster Leads, Associate Cluster Leads, and Field Coordinators—are all participating, with the Core Team leading the sessions. During these sessions, a few partners and volunteers joined to conduct and to observe these sessions. Over the first two days, we had insightful discussions on the academic year's learnings, reflections from the field, communication guidelines discussion, and mid-year reviews. We've also held role-specific sessions: Cluster Leads and Associate Cluster Leads focused on defining their roles, team building, feedback, and mentoring, while Field Coordinators worked on documenting field stories, gathering ground-level insights, and discussing their role in shaping policy at both organizational and systemic levels. #SwaTaleem #TeamBuilding #FieldInsights #Workshop #GrowthAndLearning

We conducted the cluster sessions in all the clusters in Haryana during 6th to 20th September 2024, and completed successfully. All English Teachers participated in these sessions, which were led by our Cluster Leads and Associate Cluster Leads and supported by Field Coordinators. The main objectives were to create a collaborative space for the KGBV and SwaTaleem Teams to exchange ideas and share best practices, introduce Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and its application for English Teachers, and present the Bridge Course section for use in English classrooms. The sessions featured active discussions and reflections on previous clusters sessions, experience sharing, revision of the teachers' workshop, goal-setting, an introduction to UDL concepts and strategies, and Learning, Speaking, Reading, and Writing (LSRW) techniques. It was a rejuvenating experience for both the Teachers and our field Team, who played a key role in organizing and coordinating the sessions. #SwaTaleem #ClusterSession #Teachers #Girls
