On this World Water Day, we reflect on the urgent need for sustainable water solutions, especially in regions where scarcity threatens both livelihoods and dignity. In Jharkhand’s Noamundi Block, Tata Steel Foundation and Standard Chartered have joined forces to implement the Integrated Watershed and Climate Proofing Project. By building farm ponds, check dams, and soil conservation structures, we are creating sustainable water solutions that will benefit 3,435 families, 80% of whom belong to the underserved Ho tribe. With a vision to create 1000 mcft of water storage by 2030, this partnership is a step towards long-term water security. Because access to water isn't just about survival—it’s about dignity, growth, and resilience. Let’s keep the conversation going. Combating Sickle Cell Anemia in Jharkhand: A Collaborative Public Health Initiative Sickle Cell Anemia, a hereditary disorder prevalent among Jharkhand’s tribal communities, poses severe health risks across generations. Addressing this challenge requires proactive intervention, early diagnosis, and sustained awareness. Tata Steel Foundation, in partnership with CSIR India-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology and National Health Mission (NHM), Jharkhand, has launched a large-scale screening and awareness program across West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum, and Saraikela-Kharsawan districts—regions with a high prevalence of the disease. Over the next two years, this initiative aims to screen 200,000 individuals from priority groups, including women of reproductive age, adolescents, and newborns. Early detection is critical—it helps prevent disease transmission, ensures timely medical support, and enables affected individuals to access government entitlements, including disability certification. The program leverages advanced, low-cost DBS-PCR technology developed by CSIR-CCMB, with samples collected at the community level and analyzed at a newly established testing hub in East Singhbhum. This initiative marks a significant step towards a future where no child inherits the burden of Sickle Cell Anemia. Raising awareness is key—let’s drive the conversation forward. #SickleCellAwareness #PublicHealth #CommunityHealth #GeneticScreening #Jharkhand #HealthcareForAll #CSIRCCMB #NHMJharkhand #TataSteelFoundation [Sickle Cell Awareness, Public Health, Community Health, Genetic Screening, Jharkhand, Health care For All, CSIR CCMB, NHM Jharkhand, Tata Steel Foundation]
