We are glad to have been a part of the ThinkAg Harvesting Tomorrow Summit that took place last week. Shivam Jumani represented The Blended Finance Company as a panelist in the session on ‘Catalyzing Capital: Innovative Financing for Agri-Food Innovation’, alongside HARI RAJAGOPAL, Megha Jain (Moderator), Madhavika Bajoria, Neha Baid and Royston Braganza, The discussion focused on innovative finance as a means to close the gap in investments going towards addressing critical agriculture ecosystem concerns such as climate resilience and mitigation, as well as farmer livelihoods. It highlighted the role of credit guarantees in successfully moving the needle on providing access to financing for the agriculture sector, especially for the MSMEs, FPOs, startups, processors, and other entities working with small-holder farmers. There was also an understanding that the use of other innovative finance instruments are a lot more nascent in the sector; increasing awareness of these instruments will is critical to mainstream their use and ensuring philanthropic capital can be used more catalytically.
