Project Sanjeevani ( Post 5 of 5) As we conclude the series on Project Sanjeevani, our flagship initiative addressing the root causes of waste management and its critical link to climate change, one thing stands clear: it's our behavior and attitude towards the problem that will drive true change. Through #ZeroWasteSchools, #ZeroWasteSocieties, and #ZeroWasteOffices, we’ve created simple, replicable models that have the potential for huge impact. However, community-driven activities also play a key role in keeping the momentum towards a sustainable lifestyle. Initiatives like cleaning drives, Clean Green Visarjan, and door-to-door IEC activities further push us towards our goal of zero waste. Additionally, recyclable collection drives for used clothes, toys, books, etc., help prevent these items from ending up in landfills. Instead, they are upcycled into useful products, creating new livelihoods and reducing our #carbon footprint. At Koru Foundation, we believe that collective action, supported by sustainable models, can make a significant difference. Let's continue working together for a greener, cleaner future. P.S The following video is about how we were able to bring a refreshing change in the lives of thousands of people with the support of #AdityapurNagarNigam #ZeroWaste #SustainableLiving #ProjectSanjeevani #ClimateAction #CircularEconomy #CommunityDriven #KoruFoundation #Upcycling #Recycling

Project Sanjeevani (Post 4 of 5) 🌿 Zero Waste Offices & Businesses: A Step Towards a Sustainable Future 🌿 At Koru Foundation, we believe that the journey toward a sustainable, zero-waste future isn't just the responsibility of individuals—businesses and offices play a pivotal role in shaping that future. That’s why Zero Waste Offices/Businesses form the third pillar of our vision for a Zero Waste City. Achieving Zero Waste goals isn’t just an environmental necessity; it’s rapidly becoming a business imperative. Today’s consumers, investors, and stakeholders are increasingly demanding responsible, eco-friendly business practices. By committing to net zero waste, businesses not only enhance their reputations but also position themselves as leaders in sustainability. This shift attracts socially conscious consumers and creates lasting partnerships with like-minded stakeholders, all while contributing to a more resilient, sustainable future for everyone. At Koru Foundation, we’re here to guide businesses on this transformative journey. Our Zero Waste Events program is one of the primary areas of intervention. We provide expert advice on eco-friendly alternatives for everyday office supplies, corporate gifting, and more. Our goal is to help businesses adopt sustainable practices seamlessly, ensuring that they reduce waste while maintaining operational efficiency. By working with us, businesses can: - Reduce their environmental footprint - Create a positive impact in their communities - Align with global sustainability goals, and - Lead the way for a Zero Waste Economy. Together, we can create businesses that aren’t just profitable but also sustainable and conscious contributors to the planet’s health. Join us on the path to Zero Waste! 🌍 P.S #XLRI MAXI fair attempted their first zero waste event in collaboration with us and the clip below shows how it went. Special thanks to #TataSteel UISL for providing bins that helped in reducing the cost of operations and making the event a huge success. #Sustainability #ZeroWaste #CorporateResponsibility #GreenBusiness #NetZero #CircularEconomy #KoruFoundation #Plasticfree #Sustainableproducts #SourceSegregation Tata Steel Adventure Foundation Tata Trusts Tata Steel Foundation

Project Sanjeevani (Post 3 of 5) 🚮 Achieving a Zero Waste Society: A Step Towards a Cleaner India 🌍 For any solution to succeed, it must consider all stakeholders and every variable involved in the problem. This is particularly true for building a Zero Waste Society, which is a crucial step toward realizing the goals of the #SwachhBharatAbhiyan. The challenges we face, as a country and as a planet, far outweigh the people currently involved in addressing them. Our Zero Waste Society initiative offers a holistic solution for residential societies and panchayats, starting from identifying the scope of the problem, understanding its impact on them and others, and implementing small changes that don’t affect daily expenses but make a massive impact in the long run. This includes applying the #3R principles, promoting waste-free lifestyles, and engaging both residents and children to customize solutions while streamlining waste segregation, handling, and disposal methods. In the last 20+ months, we’ve worked with 250 households through this initiative, successfully segregating 40,000 kgs of food waste to produce compost. The recyclables from dry waste have provided an additional income source for sanitation workers. While this is an ongoing process, we’ve learned that scientific approaches to behaviour change—though slow—yield sustainable, long-term results. Our pilot in Sonari, Jamshedpur, an opportunity provided to us by #TataSteelUISL saw us engage in door-to-door awareness campaigns in 500 households, resulting in 90%+ households adopting regular source segregation, showcasing the effectiveness of our behaviour change methodology. After working on the ground for 2.5 years, we’ve learned that the solution lies in doing the small things right and focusing on behaviour change—the root cause of MSW (Municipal Solid Waste) issues. Sustainable waste management is not just about awareness; it’s about creating a structured process that allows for change, relapse, and reinforcement. The problem is enormous, and now more than ever, we need people from different sectors to come together and create a safer, more livable future for all. P.S Special thanks to #AdityapurMunicipalCorporation for their support throughout our journey and #TataSteelUISL for the opportunity to test our ideas successfully. #Jamshedpur #Jharkhand #ZeroWasteSociety #BehaviourChange #Sustainability #WasteManagement #CircularEconomy #CommunityEngagement #KoruFoundation #SwachhBharat #MSW #SustainableFuture #EnvironmentalSolutions #korufoundation #oneearth #UNSDG #swachhjharkhand HCLFoundation SBI Foundation Tata Trusts Tata Education Excellence Program Tata Steel Foundation

Project Sanjeevani (Post 2 of 5) 🌍 **Introducing Koru Foundation’s Zero Waste School Program** 🌍 We’re all familiar with recycling and composting, but what is Zero Waste? It’s more than just reducing waste—it's a long-term goal for a more sustainable and responsible world. At Koru Foundation, we believe the key to achieving this goal lies with our future leaders—our children. Our Zero Waste School Program doesn’t just focus on making school premises waste-free but empowers students to become Zero Waste Ambassadors in their communities. We call them Earthkeepers—the changemakers who will lead the way to a healthier, safer, and more sustainable future. 💡 Our Impact So Far: We are currently working with 15+ schools in Jamshedpur, impacting over 25,000 students. Together, we have set up Recycle Stations in every school, which has already diverted 2,500+ kg of recyclables from landfills. Through our year-long campaign, "12 months – 12 sessions," we engage students in hands-on activities to develop practical skills and foster a deep sense of responsibility toward the environment, society, and biodiversity. They’re learning problem-solving, entrepreneurship, empathy, and respect for all living beings. By shaping the mindset of the next generation, we’re creating long-term behaviour change that will benefit us all. Let’s work together for a zero-waste future, while also achieving our UN SDGs and Swachh Bharat Mission goals! #jamshedpur #Jharkhand #ZeroWaste #Sustainability #WasteManagement #Education #EnvironmentalEducation #Earthkeepers #KoruFoundation #CircularEconomy #YouthEmpowerment #CommunityChangemakers #Swachhbharatmission #UNSDG Tata Education Excellence Programme Tata Steel Foundation Tata Trusts HCLFoundation SBI Foundation Echoing Green

Project Sanjeevani (Post 1 of 5) Solid waste management is a massive challenge for cities worldwide. While big, complex solutions are often proposed, sometimes the key lies in addressing the root cause with simple, practical approaches that can be easily implemented and scaled. At Koru Foundation, we specialize in developing sustainable solutions to social and civic problems. Through our flagship Project Sanjeevani, we’ve simplified the complex issue of solid waste management by focusing on Zero Waste Cities. Our approach rests on three key pillars: Zero Waste Schools, Zero Waste Offices, and Zero Waste Societies. At the heart of this transformation is "behaviour change". Using a scientific approach in shifting mindsets and habits, we create lasting impact that is not only effective but also replicable across communities. Together, we can make sustainable living a reality for all. #Sustainability #SolidWasteManagement #ZeroWaste #KoruFoundation #BehaviourChange #CircularEconomy #SanjeevaniProject Tata Trusts Tata Steel Foundation

Our journey with the Sanjeevani project began with a simple yet profound realization: that we, ourselves, are the solution to the problems we face. It was a moment of clarity that sparked a sense of purpose and responsibility within us. We knew we had to act, and so we started identifying key issues and finding simple, effective solutions. As we delved deeper, we discovered that our efforts were part of something much larger. The Sanjeevani project was, in fact, one of three key initiatives under the Koru Foundation, registered in 2022 by its three co-founders. This foundation was born out of a shared vision to create a sustainable future for all, and we felt proud to be a part of it. Through Sanjeevani, we've been working tirelessly towards creating a Zero Waste City model, built on three pillars: Zero Waste Schools, Zero Waste Societies, & Zero Waste Businesses. We've spent countless hours engaging with schools, using activity-based learnings to educate children about environmental and climate challenges. We've also collaborated with over 200 households, diverting over 40 tons of food waste from landfills by making compost. And, we've supported zero waste events with end-to-end support, keeping budgets minimal. As we reflect on our journey, we're proud to say that we've made a significant impact. We've diverted over 21,000kgs of dry waste from landfills, composted over 54,000kgs of food waste, channelized over 1,200kgs of recyclables directly to recyclers, and managed 180kgs of recyclables from zero waste events. We've taken 50+ sessions on waste management and sustainability, reaching out to over 3.5k students & residents. We're humbled by the support we've received from our community, and we're determined to continue making a difference. But our journey hasn't been without its challenges. We face many obstacles daily, trying to convince people about the importance of sustainability. There are moments of frustration, but our passion for the environment keeps us going. We believe that environment preservation is everyone's responsibility, and we invite everyone to join us in this journey. Together, we can make a difference and create a better life for all. #humansofjamshedpur #sustainability #future #reuse #onestepatatime #buildingfuture #recycle
