Bengaluru-based eldercare startup Primus Senior Living raises seed funding of $20 million, led by General Catalyst. Other marquee investors who have participated in the round are Nikhil Kamath, co-founder of the brokerage firm Zerodha, and Gruhas, an investment firm co-founded by Kamath alongside Abhijeet Pai of the Puzzolana Group. General Catalyst invested $7 million, and Kamath and Gruhas brought in the remaining $13 million, said Adarsh Narahari, founder and managing director of Primus Senior Living. Primus is building a holistic elder care platform which integrates healthcare, wellness, lifestyle and social engagement services directly to seniors in the comfort of their homes. Narahari, who heads the startup pointed out that there is a large unmet need for a complete solution that addresses the complex care requirements of elders in India. The company operates currently at a community of 500 homes. They are specifically intended for seniors with the view of selling and giving them all the services which Primus avails to the aged individuals residing here. Primus plans to expand its offerings even further by acquiring 3,500 homes in six major cities: Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune, and Hyderabad using the raised capital. "There is a huge gap in eldercare in India, and no single solution meets the engagement needs of seniors, nor serves their health care, lifestyle, and convenience needs. We are going to focus on service delivery, technology, and a part of the investment will also go in inter-generational housing and senior living communities," Narahari told ET. It is one of General Catalyst's first investments in India following its acquisition of Venture Highway, an early-stage investor focused on India. The venture capital firm, General Catalyst hails from Silicon Valley with previous investments in global tech leaders such as Airbnb, Snap, Canva, and Stripe. https://lnkd.in/fzpnPPW #eldercare #startupfunding #investmentnews #techforgood #seniorhousing #impactinvestment #realestateinnovation #businessgrowth #startups #housingsolutions #entrepreneurship #healthcareinnovation Primus Senior Living General Catalyst

The company operating in the space of AI-driven, semi-humanoid robots for industrial automation said it will use the funding to augment product development as well as customer acquisition and growth. It is closely working with automotive and electronics manufacturing giants. Says Raviteja Chivukula, CEO & co-founder, Perceptyne: AI has been making huge strides in the digital world with more computing being available, complex models being built, and large amounts of data being collected. Leveraging this in the world of manufacturing automation would require a different class of robots-those that can sense the real world better and are articulate enough to execute AI inferencing granularly. As per Raghav Gupta, vice-president, Endiya Partners, "the time has come for an AI-first robotics company which is building for manufacturing automation. Perceptyne is addressing the critical need for a drop-in, generic automation solution that learns through AI-led tele-operation. Considering the tailwinds behind Make in India, and Perceptyne team's capability, we believe there is much to be excited about.". Kartik Madathil, Yali Capital partner, added: "We are excited about the unique multi-faceted potential of Perceptyne's robotic solutions that can be precisely tuned to deliver to sunrise sectors in India's growing economy such as electronic manufacturing. For this purpose, the startup is building a vertically integrated full stack robotics platform based on AI. Its flagship products PR-34D and PR-9D are dual-arm and single-arm robots with integrated computer vision and AI, multi-modal sensing, and highly articulate end-effectors well-adapted for manufacturing/assembly line applications. This industrial robotics opportunity is huge with a global market estimated to reach $41 billion annually by 2030, registering a CAGR of 12.3 per cent. This growth driven by global labour shortage and increased reshoring presents a strong global opportunity for AI-driven robotics companies.
