You get the pleasure of going on an epicurean journey. But more importantly, you get to intimately enjoy, feel and taste a chef’s labour of love while having good fun. Our work is not limited to the boundaries of cuisine. We also empower home chefs. The We The Chefs platform is for anyone who loves food and wants to share their passion for cooking with others. Our community of 100+ chefs currently serve NCR. But we are now cooking up a storm to include Bangalore and Mumbai in our menu. For home chefs, coming onboard We The Chefs is indulgently easy. We automate most of the process and give them the tools to promote, distribute and monetise their passion. CURATED CULINARY EXPERIENCES – THE WAY FORWARD The other day, image guru Dilip Cherian steered a lively discussion with Manish Mehrotra, the man responsible for the brilliance of Indian Accent, about the future of fine dining in a country as disparate as India. The questions he asked could be directed at any segment of the country’s vast food service industry, which is clearly on a roller-coaster ride. Restaurants in five-star hotels, barring a few storied names, are losing their mojo, clientele and talent – they have ceased to be attractive to both new customers and their young and therefore restless staff. Standalone restaurants are caught in an exhausting tightrope walk between ROI-worshipping investors and a fickle public opinion, besides having to battle the growing attrition of talent that has afflicted the entire industry. In view of this industry-wide churn, allow me to share the idea of ‘Curated Culinary Experiences’ (I owe the headline to Anurag Nagpal, the numbers man of We The Chefs) and how it is going to emerge as the dominant model for food service industry. It is always good to remind ourselves of one of those famous lines from the American period television drama: “Success comes from standing out, not fitting in.” We The Chefs is already in the business of Curated Culinary Experiences. It is all about harnessing the unique wisdom of home chefs to uplift the offerings of starred hotels and standalone restaurants; of corporate engagements, from office meals and off-sites to product launches and dealer meets; and of more personalised food-centric interactions, from chefs’ tables, wine club dinners and art gallery promotions to baby showers, milestone celebrations and weddings.
