Kerecis is pioneering the use of fish skin and fatty-acids in the cellular therapy and regenerative medicine market.

About us

Kerecis was founded by Fertram Sigurjonsson around the concept of using fish skin to heal damaged tissue. The company is pioneering the use of fish skin and fatty acids in the globally expanding cellular therapy and regenerative medicine market. The fatty-acid rich (including Omega3) products from the company's patented technologies enable the body to regenerate tissues, rather than simply repair them and risk scarring. The Kerecis products are used to regenerate tissue in trauma and chronic wounds such as burns and diabetic wounds. Kerecis is also developing products for areas such as oral surgery, plastic surgery and neurological applications. The vision of Kerecis is to extend human life by supporting the body’s own ability to regenerate. The Kerecis mission is to become the world leader in regenerating damage of the human body by sustainably harnessing nature’s own remedies. In August 2023 Kerecis became Iceland’s first Unicorn when it sold to the Danish company Coloplast for $1.3 Billion.

Don't let conventional methods restrict healing opportunities - Kerecis VET can provide hope for animals and pet parents in need.🐎🐟 Meet Rooster, a horse that experienced a miraculous recovery with our innovative treatment. After nearly two years of unsuccessful healing for wounds on his hocks, Rooster and his owners were desperate for a solution. Kerecis fish skin answered the call, delivering results that conventional healing methods couldn't. In a matter of months, these wounds that several vets claimed would never heal were closed, and Rooster was back to his playful self! We'll be sharing more stories like this during the equine track at the CVMA Convention on Sept. 7th. 🔗Kerecis VET: https://bit.ly/3z7UxBN 🔗CVMA: https://bit.ly/3MvJDcl #Kerecis #VeterinaryCare #HealingForAll

“My go-to sport has always been waterskiing… and I plan to keep skiing ‘til they put me in the box.” After a lifetime in the South Texas sun skipping across the waves, 74-year-old Barry Harrison had been struggling with basal cell skin cancer for several years. When he came to Courtney Aldridge of South Texas Skin Cancer Center, they applied our MariGen Micro graft to a large post-Mohs wound on his left cheek. After weeks of healing and repair to this sensitive area, his case is a shining example of the positive cosmetic outcomes that our patients see. With his cheek cleared for good, Barry will be found riding the waves across Texas for years to come. 🔗Hear from Barry: https://lnkd.in/etQ3bFq4 #Kerecis #PatientCare #TogetherWeHeal #WoundCare

Stepping closer to our core at the Order of the Cod training – Iceland welcomed some of Kerecis’ finest with brisk winds and snow in August! That’s life near the Arctic Circle.🐟❄️ This program, crafted for team members deeply committed to Kerecis and global healing, brought the group together in Reykjavik before journeying to our hometown of Isafjordur. Here, they explored our biotech facilities, connected with partners and suppliers, and gained insight into key topics like our unwavering focus on environmental sustainability, wrapping up with a beach clean-up at a local shore. Congratulations to all the new Order of the Cod members, returning home not only with inspiring stories but also with a deeper understanding of our mission to share with doctors, friends, and colleagues! #Kerecis #OrderoftheCod #CorporateTraining

This World Nature Conservation Day (and every day), we're leading as an example of how human ingenuity can positively impact the environments around us!🌍💡 Utilizing fish skin, an otherwise discarded byproduct of the fishing industry, we're able to transform the waste created by one of Iceland's most important industries to create healing on a global scale. The sustainable values of our home in the Westfjords, a region renowned for its environmentally friendly practices, have found their way into every aspect of our business, from our streamlined packaging that reduces shipping expenses to our products' three-year shelf life! Together, we can make waves to ensure that the places we call home can be enjoyed for generations to come! #Kerecis #WorldConservationDay #Sustainable #SaveOurOceans
