👉 G7 Inclusion and Disability: There's No Turning Back “There is no turning back now. The commitments made with the 'Solfagnano Charter' must lead the signatory countries to change course, to be more concrete in their policies, and to invest more resources to ensure rights are truly enforceable, leaving no one behind and guaranteeing equal rights and opportunities,” stated Vincenzo Falabella, President of the Italian Federation for the Overcoming of Disability (FISH - ETS), after the G7 Inclusion and Disability Summit held this week in Umbria, Italy. The summit resulted in the final document called the Solfagnano Charter, which highlights eight key priorities for advancing the rights of people with disabilities. 8️⃣ Key Outcomes of the G7 Inclusion and Disability Summit: 1. Inclusion as a priority: Ensuring inclusion remains a top agenda item for all nations. 2. Access and accessibility: Promoting the right to accessibility in all aspects of life. 3. Autonomous living: Supporting independent living for people with disabilities. 4. Employment inclusion: Valuing talents and promoting workplace inclusion. 5. Innovative technology: Encouraging the use of new inclusive technologies. 6. Sport, recreation, and culture: Enhancing participation in sports and cultural activities. 7. Dignified life and services: Guaranteeing adequate community services for all. 8. Emergency preparedness and response: The prevention and management of emergency preparedness and post-emergency situations, including the climate crisis, armed conflicts, and environmental crises. Falabella highlighted Italy's leadership in advancing disability rights and the active role of the disability movement in shaping the discussions. He also noted South Africa's commitment to including disability in the upcoming G20 agenda.
