From the 26th to the 29th of September, 2024, Cassina takes part in Pietrasanta Design Week-end, the event signed by Studio Coronel, which this year reaches its third edition. Inside the Church of Sant’Agostino, the Doron Hotel Outdoor small armchair by Charlotte Perriand is the protagonist of “Abitiamo alla marinara”, the installation curated by Giulio Cappellini and Giulio Iacchetti that narrates the design of yesterday and today through a tribute to beach life in Versilia. The Doron Hotel small armchair was designed in 1947 by Charlotte Perriand, an avid lover of the mountains, for the winter sports’ resort in Méribel les Allues and the Hôtel Doron, one of the first chalet-hotels in the same resort. Materic and pleasant to the touch, Cassina has presented the outdoor teak version of this comfortable small armchair with soft and rounded shapes, in collaboration with her daughter Pernette Perriand-Barsac. #Cassina #PietrasantaDesignWeekEnd #DoronHotelOutdoor #CharlottePerriand

The celebrations for the 20th anniversary of the Charlotte Perriand Collection continue: after Seoul and Paris, the spotlight shifted to London. The event coincided with the London Design Festival 2024 (September 14-22), where an exclusive selection of works by Charlotte Perriand was showcased at the Cassina Store London, with the iconic Indochine chaise longue at the center of a scenographic representation that highlighted the designer's attention to materials and the expression of lightness, surrounded by the disassembled components of two of her models floating in space. Charlotte Perriand's daughter, Pernette Perriand, and the designer’s biographer, Jacques Barsac, also led the talk “A Room of One's Own: Inside Charlotte Perriand's Universe” at the Cassina Store London. This discussion took Virginia Woolf's visionary work as a starting point to explore how Charlotte Perriand established herself as one of the most influential voices in twentieth-century design. Cassina participates in the CULT program of EDIT Napoli 2024 with 'Editare iMaestri. Tribute to Filippo Alison’ in the heart of Naples from 11th to 13th October at the Teatro di Corte, inside Palazzo Reale. For this occasion, Cassina presents a tribute-installation dedicated to Filippo Alison, the architect, designer and Neapolitan professor, historical curator of the Cassina iMaestri Collection. Teatro di Corte becomes the stage for the exhibition featuring Filippo Alison’s research on the furniture by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, which in 1973 officially became part of Cassina’s emblematic collection, strongly defining its character. The spotlight is focused on the installation, enhancing the iconic geometries of Charles Rennie Mackintosh's chairs and enlivening a visual narrative that celebrates their design. At centre stage are two icons from the Cassina iMaestri Collection: the Willow 1 armchair and the Hill House 1 chair. The vertical structure of the chair’s high back is highlighted by an evocative play of light and shadow. In the orchestra area, a table displays the disassembled components of Hill House 1, offering a glimpse into the technical complexity of the design. For Cassina, September pays homage to celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Charlotte Perriand Collection. During Paris Design Week (5–14 September), an exclusive selection of works by Charlotte Perriand becomes the focal point of the Cassina Store Paris Rive Gauche and is featured in an extraordinary window display. Here, the Indochine chaise longue takes center stage in a scenographic setting that emphasizes the designer's meticulous attention to materials and the expression of lightness, surrounded by the disassembled components of two of her models, suspended in space. In the Ville Lumière, the Cassina Store Paris Rive Gauche hosted a talk titled "À la recherche du temps perdu: Le Monde Visionnaire de Charlotte Perriand." Pernette Perriand, the designer's daughter, alongside biographer Jacques Barsac, delved into the significance of memories in design, drawing inspiration from a renowned passage in Marcel Proust's work. The Cassina Store Seoul Samcheong celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Charlotte Perriand Collection with an exhibition titled "20 Years of the Charlotte Perriand Collection - The Voyager" from September 4th to October 6th, in collaboration with its prestigious partner SpaceLogic Korea. After the inauguration of the store during last year's Frieze Seoul, Cassina is once again hosting a significant exhibition to thank its domestic customers, while underlining the strategic importance of the Korean market and the company’s commitment to promoting Charlotte Perriand's legacy. The travelling show stops in Seoul, the only Asian city on the itinerary, celebrating Perriand's timeless influence on contemporary design. The event offers a special opportunity to rediscover the authenticity and value of her designs, reaffirming how her humanistic philosophy continues to resonate deeply with us today, transcending time. Among the works on display, masterpieces such as the Nuage à Plots bookcase and the Tabouret Berger stand out, symbols of her functional, minimalist aesthetic. In addition to furniture items, the exhibition offers an in-depth exploration of Perriand's life and philosophy, through a precious collection of books, archives and photographs, which reflect her humanistic approach and vision of design as a means of improving society. After the end of World War II, Cassina made a name for itself in custom design, using its know-how to create high-quality furniture for outdoor spaces. The company specialized in naval supplies, contributing to its industrial growth and introducing industrial design. In the 1950s, brothers Cesare and Umberto Cassina collaborated with architects and designers to create detailed, handcrafted designs. Cassina furnished over 58 ocean liners, including the Andrea Doria, an example of Italian excellence, whose interiors were elegantly created by Gio Ponti and Nino Zoncada. Other ocean liners furnished by Cassina included the Conte Biancamano, the Conte Grande, the Giulio Cesare, the Michelangelo and the Costa Armatori ships. Today, with its Yachting Selection, Cassina continues the tradition of naval furnishings, offering its vision for pleasure boating and luxury ships. It furnishes every room of the yachts, from the living and dining areas to the flybridge, solarium and the owner's staterooms, using iconic products and pieces by contemporary designers. The result is elegantly furnished vessels that are distinct and eclectic, just like the collection itself. #Cassina #Yachting

Defining a new and modern art of living: this was the lifelong motto of Charlotte Perriand, born in Paris in 1903. Perhaps this is also why she collaborated with Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret for ten years, breathing warmth into the rationalist design ideal of the two architects and designers, and revolutionizing the aesthetic values of an era. In 1964 the company obtained the exclusive rights to mass-produce the Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand furniture models, creating the Cassina iMaestri Collection. Forty years later, in collaboration with Pernette Perriand-Barsac, Charlotte Perriand's daughter and heir, Cassina produced a collection bearing her name that offered a broader overview of the designer's work. Cassina's love for the author’s work inspired the company to support and promote the exhibitions "Le monde nouveau de Charlotte Perriand" (2019) and "Charlotte Perriand: The Modern Life" (2021). Among the emblematic pieces in the collection is the Indochine chaise longue, designed in 1943 and produced today with innovative materials, capable of highlighting the comfort and aesthetic harmony of the piece. On the occasion of this prestigious anniversary, Cassina will celebrate the historic designer during some events such as Frieze Seoul (4/09-7/09), Paris Design Week in Paris (5/09-14/09), the London Design Festival (14/09-22/09) and in an event at the Cassina Store Lyon (in October). On August 2, the Cassina Store Osaka unveiled its new interiors, renovated to reflect the company’s vision of the home, as expressed in ‘The Cassina Perspective’. Opened in 1998, the Cassina Store Osaka is located along Midosuji Avenue, which is beautifully lined with ginkgo trees, lush green in summer and golden in autumn. As the second most important store after the one in Tokyo, it has long been a leader in the interior design industry in western Japan. At the centre of the store, the generous proportions of Moncloud, the system designed by Patricia Urquiola with an innovative and conscious soul, dialogue with the refined design of the Table Monta coffee table by Charlotte Perriand in the living area, while the Longplane table by Rodolfo Dordoni and the Committee Chair small armchairs from the Hommage à Pierre Jeanneret collection combine to create an elegant atmosphere in the dining area. The new Cassina 2024 Outdoor Collection is also displayed among the home settings. The essential lines of the Mex-Hi Outdoor system by Piero Lissoni and iconic Utrecht XL Outdoor armchair by Gerrit T. Rietveld, are the protagonists of a versatile and dynamic open-air space. Renovation of the Cassina Store Osaka further strengthens the brand's position in Japan, where it has been present for over 30 years, and with four stores with Cassina ixc. #Cassina #CassinaStoreOsaka #Osakaixc
