Cassina and Selfhabitat Cultura, Florence’s historic design showroom, promote the exhibition “Tributo a Filippo Alison” at Sala del Semiottagono, Firenze, following its debut at EDIT CULT 2024. Celebrating Alison’s role in reviving Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s work for the Cassina iMaestri Collection, the exhibition offered a deep dive into his meticulous research and curatorial vision. On display, a selection of models and prototypes of seating elements with iconic geometries designed by the Scottish author offers an evocative narrative of the Maestro’s furniture designs. Among these, two true icons of design history stand out: the Willow 1 armchair and the Hill House 1 chair. On February 1st, a special talk with Barbara Lehmann, Cassina Museum & Archives Curator; Aurosa Alison, Filippo Alison’s daughter, and professor of Aestethics; and Domitilla Dardi, Historian & Curator, explored Alison’s legacy and his influence on design history. A powerful tribute to the dialogue between history and design. 2nd - 18th February 2025 Complesso delle murate Sala del Semiottagono Visit the exhibition Graphic design: Stefano Rovai of RovaiWeber design Ph.: Mauro Cenci Exhibition design: arch. Cassina has won a Wallpaper* Design Award for the Cornaro armchair, awarded ‘Best Design’ in the annual selection of the prestigious international magazine. Designed in 1973, Cornaro stands out for its evocative design, highlighted by a unique material and structural contrast in which the geometric rigour of the base embraces its soft seat. The upholstered cushions that give the backrest, seat and armrests their enveloping shape, are set within a majestic and sculptural wooden frame.   While Cornaro preserves the emblematic aesthetic of the 1970s model, its proportions have been updated thanks to in-depth research and development carried out in close collaboration with Tobia Scarpa, increasing its height and depth to better meet the needs of younger generations with a more ample and comfortable seat.   Confirming Cassina’s commitment to adopt an approach oriented towards greater sustainability, special attention has also been given to the use of innovative materials to reinterpret the model, making it more actual than ever. In addition to recycled polyester fibre, the comfortable cushions contain elements made of polyurethane with a percentage of polyols derived from biological sources and CIRCULARREFOAM®, a polyurethane with a percentage of recycled polyols. With a view to circularity, Cornaro has no glued parts and is therefore completely disassemblable. Wallpaper* #Cassina
