A profound post by our colleague Charles Wattebled from our Member Firm APERLEAD in France, translated into English to make it accessible to a wider audience : 🌳 "The Man Who Planted Trees" by Jean Giono and the role of an executive headhunter: a lesson on the importance of long-term vision and finding one’s "own place" ⏳ In Jean Giono's famous tale, a man dedicates his life to planting trees in a barren region. He knows that the results will only be visible after years, but he persists, driven by a long-term vision and the belief that a renewed landscape will nourish future generations. This reminds me of the concept of the "own place" found in Aristotle. This idea suggests that for each person, there is a unique space where they can fully realize their potential, a zone of harmony between the individual and their environment. 🌍 As an executive headhunter, this notion is at the heart of our work. Finding the right talent for the right role is a bit like helping someone find their "own place" within an organization, where they can not only thrive but also have a deep and lasting impact. Like the man who planted trees, we plant the seeds of human relationships based on trust and an understanding of long-term potential, for both the candidate and the company. 🔍 What’s the connection between these ideas? Identifying tomorrow’s leaders means anticipating, observing, and understanding not only their skills but also the subtle alignment between a person, a role, a context, and a company culture. It’s not just about filling a position; it’s about fostering that connection between a talent and their "own place," where they can truly contribute to the future of the company. Time and long-term vision are our best allies in planting today what will help businesses thrive tomorrow 🌱 #Leadership #TalentManagement #ExecutiveSearch #LongTermVision #OwnPlace #Headhunters #JeanGiono #Aristotle #LongTermThinking

Why a Chief AI Officer is Your Business’s Next Strategic Move? In a world where technology can turn a simple cough into a life-saving diagnosis, AI is no longer a distant concept but a transformative force. Google’s Health Acoustic Representations (HeAR) model, capable of detecting diseases like tuberculosis and COPD from sound alone, is just one glimpse of AI’s immense potential. This leap isn’t just about healthcare; it highlights AI’s ability to revolutionize entire industries. AI is projected to add $15.7 trillion to the global economy by 2030, but many businesses still treat it as a peripheral tool. For instance, in sectors like manufacturing, many have embraced digitization, but few are leveraging AI to its fullest potential. This is where a Chief AI Officer steps in. A CAIO ensures AI is central to operations, from streamlining processes to unlocking new growth opportunities. They bridge the gap between technical innovation and business strategy, aligning AI initiatives with broader company goals. Now more than ever, companies that fail to integrate AI risk falling behind. The CAIO role isn’t just another executive position—it’s a strategic necessity, combining deep technical expertise with business acumen to navigate AI's challenges and opportunities. This role is key to aligning AI with both performance and ethical standards. In today’s boardrooms, digital innovation is essential for staying ahead, and the CAIO will be the guide leading companies toward lasting success. The future isn’t just about digitization—it’s about embedding AI into the core of operations, driving true, transformative change. The companies that recognize this will be at the forefront of the AI revolution. How is your organization positioning itself in the AI-driven future? Let us know in the comments. #AI #AITransformation #digitalinnovation #CAIO #boardroomquestion #stellarthoughts #stellarsearch #peoplepassionpurpose

Progressive leaders are drawn to local businesses due to the scale, and opportunities for impactful change. But these companies come with their own distinct legacy, culture, and ways of working. Having worked with many local businesses, I've made my share of mistakes when hiring progressives into these settings. Just when you think you’ve cracked it, something new pops up! Executives often struggle with the unexpected politics, legacy relationships, and power dynamics. They only really find out, when they're in the business. Over my 17 years in the region, I've learned a lot about how to maximise the chances for success for executives - and I’m still learning! It is critical that executives are set up for success. They require honest insights and guidance if they are to have a fighting chance. I spend more time detailing the risks/challenges rather than the positives when discussing with executives. Yes, you risk losing people, but when fully informed, they are better positioned to manage it all. Being well prepared ensures there are no major surprises once they're onboard. ....having said that, there's always surprises! This is the nature of legacy businesses. Joining local companies can be very rewarding. But it takes careful thought and alignment. In the upcoming posts I'll share tips on how to make it work! #FamilyBusiness #Culture #Change #ExecutiveInsights

In my conversations with executives about career trajectories, I’m constantly reminded of the impact our career choices have on both our professional and personal lives. The quality of these decisions, therefore, is crucial for our growth, development, and overall well-being. The road to achieving your career goals is rarely straightforward. Various factors come into play, such as differing opportunities, responsibilities, priorities, and capabilities. Your personality and ambition also impact the direction and pace of your career. So, in light of all this, how do you make career decisions? What factors do you consider, and are you strategically leveraging your support networks to guide you toward better outcomes? While many executives rely on personal experience, intuition, and observations when making career choices, few utilise formal resources that could enhance their understanding of the landscape, leading to better outcomes. To make well-informed decisions, you need access to quality insights. One effective way is by building a formal network of mentors - a personal advisory board, if you will. These mentors are experts in their fields and possess the skills, experiences, and qualities that you admire. They believe in you and are genuinely interested in your growth. Their guidance and advocacy can surely help you make more informed decisions aligned with your career objectives. We all have connections - whether directly or through others - to individuals who could serve as mentors. It’s up to us to take the initiative and seek their support. I regularly give guidance to senior leaders who seek my support. While I can't give everyone equal attention due to capacity, I do my best to assist. Most people are willing to help, so take that first step and start building your personal advisory board to guide you on your career journey. #Mentorship #CareerGrowth #Leadership #StrategicThinking
