🔭 EIE GROUP Srl: Pioneering the Evolution of ASTRI Telescopes 🔭 From the ASTRI-Horn prototype installed in 2014 at Serra La Nave, Sicily, to the first production model installed in 2023 at the Teide Observatory in the Canary Islands, EIE GROUP Srl is proud to play a key role in advancing technology for groundbreaking astronomical science! ASTRI, an international project led by INAF - Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica, is designed to observe high-energy gamma-ray sources (200 TeV and beyond), such as supernova remnants. By detecting Cherenkov light flashes produced by ultrarelativistic particles interacting with the Earth’s atmosphere, ASTRI is opening new frontiers in the exploration of the cosmos. EIE GROUP Srl is responsible for the design, construction, integration, and on-site installation of the mount for the first four ASTRI telescopes. These telescopes feature an innovative Schwarzschild-Couder optical configuration, with a segmented primary mirror measuring 4.3 meters in diameter (composed of 18 segments) and a monolithic secondary mirror of 1.8 meters. Both mirrors are equipped with actuators for three degrees of freedom adjustment, ensuring precision and flexibility in performance. The ASTRI-Horn prototype design has been significantly upgraded, improving performance, reliability, and maintainability, resulting in a high performance-to-cost ratio and simplified telescope operations. This enhanced mount design has been selected as the baseline for the Small-Sized Telescopes (SST) within the upcoming Telescope Array Observatory (CTAO) in Chile. Pushing the boundaries of science with EIE’s cutting-edge technologies! #Innovation #Astrophysics #GammaRayAstronomy #EngineeringExcellence #EIEGROUP #ASTRITelescopes #CTAO #CherenkovTelescopeArray #SpaceExploration #HighEnergyPhysics #ProudEngineer

EIE GROUP Srl is in charge of designing and building the MROI - Magdalena Ridge Observatory Interferometer, consisting of an array of 10 Observers, located on 4 square kilometers (1,54sqm) at 3231msl (10.600ft), in the Magdalena Mountains of the Cibola National Forest in Socorro County, (NM). MROI is part of astrometric follow up and spin rate determination of near-Earth asteroids and comets, and Air Force funded work to track and spectrally study low-Earth orbiting (LEO) resident space objects. The MROI array simulates single dish telescopes that can range in size from 7.8 to 340m in diameter. The MROI, which will be ultimately composed of ten 1.4-meter telescopes, expects first light in the Beam Combining Facility (BCF) in 2018. The 10 telescopes will be optically linked together in order to make images of astronomical objects with unprecedented detail. With this interferometric technology, MROI will be able to resolve objects with 100 times the resolution of the Hubble Space Telescope and will be able to make accurate images of complex astronomical objects many times faster than other existing interferometric arrays.
