Biodiversity and climate are deeply interconnected, and businesses have a crucial role in shaping a nature-positive future. That’s why we are proud to have supported NextEnergy Group in developing their 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲, one of the first globally science-based, action-driven roadmaps designed to integrate nature into corporate decision-making. This strategy aligns with 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞-𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 (#𝐓𝐍𝐅𝐃), 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐓𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 (#𝐒𝐁𝐓𝐍) 𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬, and 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐊𝐮𝐧𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠-𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤, setting clear commitments to: ▪️ 𝐀𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐝 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐬 in operations and supply chains ▪️ 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬 with a 30×30 restoration target ▪️ 𝐄𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝-𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 through nature management plans ▪️ 𝐄𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 and responsible sourcing This project proves that putting nature at the heart of decision-making using a scientific approach leads to real impacts on climate and nature. 🎉 A huge thanks to the Etifor team for their work on this Wesley Snell, Maria Alejandra Lizcano Solano, Helena Chiaretti Leonel Ferreira and Alessandro Bellio, and congratulations to NextEnergy Group for setting a new benchmark in the solar and sustainable finance industries! 📖 In the upcoming weeks, we will have the chance to discuss this topic in more detail. NextEnergy Group is proud to unveil its standalone Nature Strategy, setting a benchmark for dual action on climate and nature.   This strategy, aligned with global standards, outlines clear commitments to protect and restore nature, ensuring responsible land use and supply chain transparency.   Giulia Guidi, NextEnergy Group's Head of ESG, commented: “Early in our journey, we realised that financed, developed, and harnessed in the right way, renewable energy is an investment strategy that can mitigate climate change, protect biodiversity, and minimise nature loss. I am excited to launch this Strategy – it is a critical step in translating what we know about nature into action.” Hing Kin Lee, NextEnergy Group's Lead for Nature, added: “The urgent need to address the interconnected crises of climate change and biodiversity loss has never been clearer. "Our Nature Strategy serves as a practical roadmap, guiding the steps we are taking to achieve a nature positive future. As leaders in the solar and sustainable finance industries, we are committed to driving transformative change while unlocking new opportunities for long-term value creation.” Building on 20 years of environmental management, NextEnergy Group continues to lead in renewable energy and sustainable investment. 🔗 Read the full PR: https://lnkd.in/d93G5UN   | #Energytransition | #NatureStrategy | #Sustainability | #RenewableEnergy | #ClimateAction | #Biodiversity | #Sustainablefuture | #Reversenatureloss | #NextisNow |

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞? There’s no universal answer, but we can share our vision and journey. For us, it means investing time and energy in caring for our people and values, supported by a dedicated team: 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 & 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 In 2023, we took a deep dive into what defines us and created our #CultureManifesto, a synthesis of the values shared by everyone who has been, is, and will be part of #Etifor: 🔹 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: we act for nature, guided by science. 🔹 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧-𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬: we embrace (bio)diversity in all its forms. 🔹 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧: we put energy and heart into everything we do. 🔹 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬: we nurture individual talent and growth. 🔹 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬: we’re serious about our work, but never lose our playful spirit. March is #BCorpMonth. We’ve been a B Corp since 2022, choosing to be part of a movement that sees business as a force for good, where impact matters as much as profit. Yesterday, we were in Dublin for the 2nd 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭, a key event on carbon farming strategies and development. 👉 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠? Carbon Farming involves agricultural and forestry practices that enhance carbon sequestration and storage in soils and forests while reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This includes ecologically-based reforestation that promotes biodiversity and sustainable forest management. The European Union's Carbon Removal and Carbon Farming Regulation governs these practices. 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐬: 🌳 The 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬 in Carbon Farming. 💡 The importance of 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 to measure and certify carbon removals, aligned with the EU Carbon Removals Certification Framework (#CRCF). 🧑🌾 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫𝐬 to enhance sustainability strategies. A few days ago, we discussed the crucial role of finance in biodiversity negotiations at COP16 in Cali. So, 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐞? ✔️ 𝐀𝐝𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐦𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐞 $𝟐𝟎𝟎 𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐛𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟑𝟎 👉 At COP15 in Montreal, it was established that implementing the Global Biodiversity Framework (#GBF) and achieving the goal of “halting and reversing biodiversity loss by 2030” would require $𝟐𝟎𝟎 𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠. However, negotiations in Cali stalled over how to raise these funds. 👉 Talks resumed in Rome to find an agreement on a 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. A breakthrough was finally reached: the Resource Mobilization and Financial Mechanism was approved. This roadmap outlines how the $200 billion will be mobilised, leveraging public, private, philanthropic, and multilateral funds. 👉 In parallel, countries debated 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐝. Global South nations pushed for the creation of a new global biodiversity fund, directly controlled by the COP, while Global North countries advocated for maintaining the existing mechanism under the Global Environment Facility (GEF)—a multilateral fund established in the early 1990s to support developing countries in addressing environmental challenges. 👉 The final structure of this mechanism will be determined at COP18 in 2028. ✔️ 𝐀𝐝𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 (𝐏𝐌𝐑𝐑) 𝐦𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐦 This document defines how countries will track their progress in achieving the 23 targets of the GBF. It sets key milestones, including: 👉 Submission of National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs) by 2026 👉 A standardised monitoring framework with clear indicators 👉 A global report assessing whether countries are on track We can consider the biodiversity negotiations, resumed in Rome after the stalemate in November, as a positive step towards COP17 and a promising sign of the strength of diplomatic multilateralism among nations. Plus, Rome's positive outcomes contribute to those of Cali. ✔️ The launch of the ‘𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐢 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝’ to ensure fair distribution of benefits from Digital Sequence Information (DSI) on genetic resources, funded by corporate income taxes. ✔️ The Creating a 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 within the Conference of the Parties (COP). #cop16resumed

🌍 March is B Corp Month, and we're celebrating it by dedicating our "The Data of the Week" to this topic! Certified B Corporations are part of a global movement committed to specific standards that positively impact employees, society, and the environment. They aim to 𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐬, 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥-𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐞𝐧 𝐁 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐝. As a B Corp™, we believe doing business means much more than generating profit. It means creating tangible value for the environment, people, and society, proving that economic, social, and environmental sustainability can truly go hand in hand. This vision is driven by a new generation of individuals who utilise business as a force for good; we call them #GenB. During this #BCorpMonth, we celebrate our commitment alongside thousands of other B Corps worldwide. We are not an exception but part of a global movement that grows daily. Negative news often absorbs us until we believe it represents the only possible reality. That's why today we are here to make our voices heard, to show through our actions that an alternative exists and that a more responsible economy is possible. 👉 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭: https://lnkd.in/eQR-yxJ8 👉 Discover more on #GenB: https://lnkd.in/fmyKYrT

𝐁𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐮𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬𝐧'𝐭 The European Commission has officially presented the #Omnibus regulation proposal, which aims to reduce and simplify non-financial reporting requirements under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (#CSRD), the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (#CSDDD), the EU Taxonomy, and the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (#CBAM). ✅ 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐮𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲 could boost competitiveness by reducing administrative burdens on companies. ❌ 𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐝: a slower transition might hinder progress in the ecological and energy transition. 🔍 The real question is: 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐚 𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦? At #Etifor, as a Università degli Studi di Padova spin-off born to value nature, we believe compliance is just the starting point. True #competitiveness lies with those companies that go beyond regulations—those that recognise natural resources as strategic assets, understand their impacts and dependencies on climate, biodiversity, water, and soil, and take proactive steps to adapt to a changing world (climate). Now, the proposal moves to the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union for discussion and voting. The process is still long, and the text might be revised and amended. 📎 While we await further developments, explore our 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐞: https://lnkd.in/d7t9-chA

🤔 𝐈𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐚 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬? In 2023, the UN Environment Programme published a report titled "𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞" The report stated that while US$7 trillion flows annually into nature-negative activities like fossil fuels, agriculture, and construction, only US$200 billion has been invested in nature-based solutions that support a stable climate, healthy land, and thriving ecosystems. Tomorrow, #COP16 on biodiversity will resume in Rome, following last November's impasse due to a lack of quorum. 𝐀𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧? 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞. 💭 Where financial resources are directed clearly indicates which concrete actions will be implemented. The countries most affected by climate change and biodiversity loss were not interested in claims or statements from the nations most responsible for these crises—𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐢𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲. The COP16 discussions will aim to mobilize US$200 billion annually by 2030 for biodiversity projects and cut harmful incentives by US$500 billion each year. The creation of a global fund to manage these resources more effectively is also on the table. At #Etifor, we commit to valuing nature not just for its beauty but as a crucial economic asset. 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝, 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫, 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝐬𝐨𝐢𝐥, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐲. As the World Economic Forum estimated, over 50% of the global economy depends on nature and its services. 👉 Before these negotiations unfold, we leave you with this question: 𝐈𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐚 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬?
