We had the pleasure of interviewing Haven Lin-Kirk, Dean and Professor of Art and Design at the USC Roski School of Art and Design, about “Whispers From The Corner of My Eye”, the student exhibition featured at #PersonalStructures2024. The European Cultural Centre places great importance on collaborating with universities globally to advance artistic research, support emerging artists, and encourage international exchange and dialogue. “Whispers From The Corner of My Eye” explores complex themes such as taboo, fetish, hybridity, obsession, and the bizarre. The participating students present their work across various mediums, tackling the challenge of exhibiting in an international context for the first time. Join us in exploring "Rʳoma Lepanto" through an insightful interview with Moritz Pankok, the artistic curator of Stiftung Kai Dikhas, who brings a profound perspective to the installation at #PersonalStructures2024. Co-curated by Miguel Angel Vargas Rubio, the exhibition challenges the traditional concept of nationhood by artistically recounting the famous Battle of Lepanto in 1571. While this battle was a significant victory for Venice and the Holy League, it also saw the capture of Romani people in Spain who were forced to become rowers. Through this narrative, the exhibition aims to highlight the diversity and multifaceted nature of humanity.
