On Tuesday, October 8th, Furla Progetto Italia welcomed students from the Master Luxury & Fashion Management program of 24ORE Business School. The students were given a comprehensive presentation on the entire product development process, starting with the design and merchandising stages, followed by an overview of materials research and the development of metal accessories. They then toured the modelers to see pattern creation and visited the prototyping department to observe how products come to life. The visit concluded with a look at quality control processes. The Master’s program equips students with the skills needed for leadership roles in the fashion and luxury industries, combining theoretical learning with practical exposure. Furla's commitment to education and training to cultivate tomorrow's talents is growing stronger thanks to the Furla Academy, a training program founded in 2018 in partnership with ITS Mita, with the goal of spreading and passing on the company's incredible know-how.

Furla Academy is thrilled to announce the collaboration with Chiantiform, the training agency representing five Chianti municipalities, to create new job opportunities for young people and the unemployed. Thanks to EU funding under the GiovaniSì project, Furla has launched two professional training programs, "GOL - Pret a porter," focused on the leather goods sector. The first course on prototyping ran from September to December 2023, involving 7 participants at Furla's Prototyping and Modeling departments. The second course, from April to July 2024, focused on model engineering and included 10 students. In both educational paths, the theoretical part was carried out in collaboration with the teachers of the ITS MITA Academy, while the internship involved Furla Progetto Italia artisans from the modeling and prototyping departments, who guided the participants by showing them the entire cycle of the production process and assisting them in the different phases of assembling some bag models. Investing in the future of our youth and local employment is a priority for Furla. #YouthEmployment #TrainingPrograms #LeatherGoods #Furla #Chiantiform

FURLA SERIES  KELLY AKASHI. Converging Figures Curated by Bruna Roccasalva   Promoted by Fondazione Furla and GAM – Galleria d’Arte Moderna, Milan   September 13 – December 8, 2024 September 12: 10 AM press conference and preview, 7 PM opening GAM – Galleria d’Arte Moderna, Milan For the sixth edition of the Furla Series program, Fondazione Furla and GAM – Galleria d’Arte Moderna of Milan announce Converging Figures, a solo exhibition by Kelly Akashi, curated by Bruna Roccasalva.   The first exhibition dedicated to the artist by an Italian institution, the project presents a series of new works designed specifically to dialogue with the museum’s spaces and collection.   Kelly Akashi is a Japanese-American artist, born and raised in Los Angeles, whose practice is distinguished by her ability to reconcile a conceptual approach with an attention to form and process. Always carried out with great skill and a profound knowledge of materials, Akashi’s works explore universal concepts such as time and space, the impermanence of the natural world, the transience of the human body, and entropy.   Attracted to materials like glass, wax, and bronze, Akashi shapes them by creating forms that reproduce natural elements such as plants, flowers, shells, or parts of her own body, recording their physiological changes and the passage of time. Juxtaposed in poetic compositions that often look fragile and precious, these familiar yet alienating forms explore existential questions, encouraging us to look at things from a different, broader and less anthropocentric perspective.   The project that Akashi has come up with for the Furla Series revolves around the concept and phenomenon of “reflection,” explored through a visionary path that winds its way right through the permanent collection, creating a dialogue and synergy with the museum’s architecture and masterpieces.   Kelly Akashi’s exhibition is the sixth edition of the Furla Series project, and is the upshot of the collaboration between Fondazione Furla and GAM: a partnership begun in 2021 to promote annual exhibition projects providing a unique opportunity for past masters and protagonists of the contemporary scene to come face to face.   Furla Series is the project cycle that since 2017 has seen the Fondazione Furla engaged in the creation of exhibitions in collaboration with major Italian art institutions, with an all-female program designed to valorize and showcase women’s fundamental contribution to contemporary culture.
