🤔 What’s the impact of an agrivoltaic system on crops? That’s exactly what we discussed yesterday at FIERAGRICOLA Tech with Professor Stefano Poni, Full Professor of Viticulture at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. Agrivoltaics is quickly gaining ground, promising to boost farm revenues without harming crops. 🤷♂️But is that really possible? Professor Stefano Poni highlighted that, based on trials conducted at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, grape yields in vineyards under solar panels remain comparable to those in traditional, uncovered vineyards. At Horta srl, with insights from Sara Legler, Head of R&D, we presented the first advanced agrivoltaic plant installed in Italy at Gruppo Caviro, showing how our software can regulate panel inclination —optimizing energy production and minimizing any impact on the crops. ✅ In conclusion, with careful planning and digital tools, we can bring the impact of agrivoltaic systems on crops close to zero. #agtech #sustainability #energy #grapes #Horta

🥶 During the cold season, cereals such as wheat and barley face critical challenges, including waterlogging and root stress. However, with a targeted agronomic approach, winter can become a key phase to prepare crops for healthy and productive growth. At Horta srl, we are committed to promoting resilient farming systems by focusing on: 1️⃣ Targeted fertilization planning, tailored to the real needs of the soil. 2️⃣ Optimizing chemical inputs, to reduce environmental impact. 3️⃣ Regenerative practices, essential to improve soil structure and promote root development. Well-managed soil not only supports crops during winter but also allows them to reach their full productive potential in spring. 🤔 Want to learn more about how to tackle these challenges and enhance your yields? Read our article to discover the solutions we implement and the added value we bring to the agri-food industry. #agriculture #DSS #regenerativeagriculture #susteinability #farmer #agtech #digitalagriculture #soilhealth #wheat #barley #winter #soil

🧐 How can adopting sustainable practices make a difference to soil fertility? The photo below speaks for itself: on the left, we see a field managed with regenerative practices, while on the right, we have soil “stressed” by intensive conventional methods. The difference is striking, both in the soil’s structure and its biological fertility. 🌱 In soils cultivated with regenerative practices, the presence of fungal hyphae and decomposing roots promotes the formation of stable aggregates, contributing to greater microbial biodiversity composed of bacteria and fungi involved in key biogeochemical cycles (C, N, P). The porosity provided by roots and macrofauna—such as earthworms—improves water retention, while the increase in SOM is crucial for reinforcing soil structure and ensuring long-term fertility. 🚜 Conversely, soils managed with conventional practices often exhibit deep fissures due to low organic matter content and intensive mechanical tillage. This leads to weaker particle cohesion and a significant drop in biological activity, as evidenced by the reduced presence of earthworms, fungi, and beneficial bacteria. As a result, there is poor water and nutrient retention, which heightens water stress and fosters erosion. Additionally, the gradual depletion of humus and biodiversity ultimately causes a decline in overall soil fertility. 📲 Are you interested in starting your regenerative agriculture journey? 🍇 "Being able to correctly interpret the outputs of predictive models is the key to an integrated and sustainable approach to vineyard protection." – Emiliana Carotenuto, Digital Agronomist Fruit Tree Crops, Horta srl On December 10th, we participated in the “Valpolicella 2024 Plant Health Overview,” organized by the Consorzio Tutela Vini Valpolicella in collaboration with the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. On this occasion, it was highlighted how crucial it is to invest in training farmers so that they can acquire the skills needed to confidently interpret the outputs of DSS and other digital solutions. 📊 Understanding predictive models is not merely about reading data; it requires the ability to contextualize this information within one’s own vineyard, to comprehend the logic behind the parameters used, and to correlate the results with direct field observations. 🤝 As Emiliana Carotenuto reaffirmed, training events like the one organized by the Consorzio Tutela Vini Valpolicella are essential to ensuring that farmers receive adequate preparation. #sustainability #agriculture #grapes #DSS #agtech

🇭🇺 Mars and Horta srl join forces for Regenerative Agriculture in Hungary promoting sustainability across 3,600 hectares of wheat and maize fields 📌 Key Objectives of the Project: This initiative represents the latest step in Mars' ongoing efforts to reduce the environmental impact of its European pet food supply chain. Sixty percent of the company’s value chain greenhouse gas emissions originate from agricultural ingredients. Which is why Mars is scaling up climate-smart agriculture to: 🌱 Improve soil health. 🌍 Reduce the carbon footprint. 🔗 Build a robust and resilient supply chain. But how will these practices be implemented? Farmers in the Mars supply chain will receive expert guidance from Horta srl to adopt innovative and sustainable agricultural techniques, including: 🌾 Cover crops and reduced soil tillage to enhance soil quality and carbon storage. 📲 Decision Support Systems (DSS) for optimizing fertilizer and water use, increasing efficiency while minimizing environmental impact. 💡 Why is this important? This collaboration marks a significant step in Mars’ Net Zero Roadmap, aligning perfectly with Horta srl’s mission to lead agri-food companies toward more sustainable practices. Together, we aim to foster a healthier planet through regenerative agriculture. #Mars #Horta #regenerativeagriculture #worldsoilday #susteinability
