In the occasion of this year's #EarlyMusicDay, I am so happy to share that I have been elected Vice President of REMA - European Early Music Network, becoming a member of the network's Executive Board for the next three years. Beyond being a personal milestone, this is also a significant recognition for ICONS Innovation Strategies, which uniquely manages two leading international #periodinstrument orchestras for early-career musicians: European Union Baroque Orchestra and Theresia Orchestra. REMA truly embodies the European Union’s motto #UnitedinDiversity, bringing together the most inspiring figures in #EarlyMusic, a fundamental part of our shared #CulturalHeritage. I look forward to shaping this wonderful network’s future, working alongside our president Isabelle Battioni and fellow board members Aliye Cornish Moore, Johannes Rantanen, and Richard Heason. This role means that the next three years will be more deeply connected than ever to the Early Music world. A heartfelt thank you to the outgoing board—Veerle Declerck, Kelly Landerkin, Artur Malke, Delma Tomlin, and Pierre Bornachot—for their invaluable contributions, and to the fantastic REMA team— Adèle Fourcade, Agathe Créac'h, Francesco Spina, and Doretta Rinaldi—for their dedication. A special thanks as well to Marco Schacchi Festival and the National Museum – Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania for introducing us to #Lithuania’s vibrant early music scene. We are thrilled about the upcoming #bridgeEU General Assembly! This year, our dedicated communication team — Sara Lazzarin, Erika Novellini, and Caterina Falcinelli — is leading the event organization and communication efforts. We can't wait to see the results of our work come to life next week. ICONS is part of the BRIDGE Secretariat, responsible for Communication and Dissemination of the BRIDGE initiative, supporting the outreach of its results to showcase their relevance across the European landscape. On March 25th, our Social Innovation Expert, Eva Martinez, PhD, will facilitate one of the working tables during the World Café Exercise. You'll also find her leading the Working Group on Consumer & Citizen Engagement the following day. 🚗🔋 From Waste to Wealth: The Circular Future of EV Batteries The EV revolution is charging ahead, but there’s a growing challenge on the horizon: What happens to the millions of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) when they reach the end of their life? By 2030, over 12 million tons of LIBs will retire, and without effective recycling and repurposing, we risk turning a green solution into an environmental crisis. The good news? A circular battery economy—where used EV batteries are repaired, reused, and recycled—is not only possible but necessary. 🔄 The Key to Sustainability? Beyond Recycling. Experts highlight that repair, second-life applications, and automation-driven recycling are crucial to reducing waste and securing critical raw materials. Projects like Rebelion are already developing robotic automation to cut processing times from 4 hours to just 20 minutes, making battery circularity cost-competitive. 🌍 But there are major roadblocks: ⚡ Lack of standardization in battery design ⚖️ Unclear regulations on repurposed batteries 🏭 Slow industry adoption of repair and reuse strategies If we get this right, repurposed EV batteries could provide vital storage for renewable energy systems, reducing emissions and unlocking new economic opportunities. In a scenario designed by researchers and industries, what is the best way to convey a message to the general public? How can we engage them in an ambitious EU project? "Healthy, sustainable, and affordable food for all — it’s possible if we work together." To tackle this challenge, the SPOON Project team —Chiara Serio, Communication Officer, and Jasmin Jabbarpour, PMO, supported by Arlind Xhelili and Francesca Grossi, PhD Project Coordinators from the Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production (CSCP) — organized a workshop involving project partners to co-create key messages for the general public. “Science isn't finished until it's communicated.”

Agro2Circular is about to cross the finish line! Last week we were busy with our final meeting, including the visit to our demonstrators and the final event carried out with the project's sister projects FRONTSH1P, CIRCULAR FOAM, EcoeFISHent, and BIO2REG. Our PMO Marcello Bardellini reported about the final achievements of our Science Communication, Exploitation activities and the multi-level approach adopted in Agro2Circular towards reaching and engaging with a broad spectrum of target audiences.

#Healthcare innovation is uniquely complex, balancing commercialisation, IP protection, and regulatory frameworks with open-source knowledge transfer and long-term sustainability. Over the past few days, ICONS Business Innovation Unit has been actively engaging with partners through three dedicated workshops, offering tailored support to help them maximise impact during and beyond their projects: POINT project – Addressing the long-term health risks of COVID-19. Filippo Collura, in collaboration with colleagues from other units, led a session on future research opportunities, joint exploitation, and exploitation-oriented dissemination. KitNewCare – Advancing kidney care with a focus on better health outcomes, cost reduction, and sustainability. Silvia Ielmini led discussions on partner roles in post-project exploitation, project results sustainability and third-party accessibility. FLAVIVACCINE – Developing next-gen vaccines against flavivirus threats. Luca Mascellaro guided a workshop on IP ownership and protection. As Chiara Bartolacci, Senior Business Innovation Officer overseeing the workshops, puts it: "Supporting innovation doesn’t stop at project completion—it’s about building sustainable solutions that shape the future of healthcare. Our goal is to empower partners with customized processes and expertise— not just to ensure project success, but to create lasting impact beyond them." At ICONS, we turn knowledge into impact.

Yesterday and today, I had the privilege of attending the Scientific Committee meeting for the GINNGER EU project in Massagno, hosted by our fantastic partners Azienda Elettrica di Massagno (AEM) SA and University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland. As we reach the halfway point, it’s an exciting time to reflect on the significant progress we’ve made and the work ahead. 💡Highlights from the meeting: - We had the opportunity to visit the Massagno pilot site and learn about the integration of #emobility as a key aspect of #urbanregeneration. - On Day 2, during the Work Packages updates, it emerged that most digital tools have been developed and are ready for deployment and testing. Also the #cocreation methodology has been fully designed, and community workshops are already underway, bringing local voices to the forefront of the project. As the ICONS Innovation Strategies Communication and Dissemination Officer of the project, it’s incredibly rewarding to see these developments in action and disseminate the great results we are achieving. Looking forward to the next steps as we move into the second half of the project! P.S.
