RAWEP Extension Week is an initiative aimed at promoting rural agricultural water management and sustainable farming practices. Here's an overview: Objectives: 1. Enhance farmers' knowledge on water conservation and management. 2. Promote efficient irrigation systems and techniques. 3. Improve crop yields and farm productivity. 4. Foster community engagement and participation. Activities: 1. Workshops and training sessions. 2. Field demonstrations and exposure visits. 3. Farmer-to-farmer exchange programs. 4. Who is far behind ? Tech start ups or Agricultural universities? The recent diamond jubilee celebration of Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University highlighted a concerning gap: the absence of climate finance and climate tech startups. This raises the question of whether startups or universities are lagging in collaboration essential for sustainable agricultural growth. Over the past 1-2 years, Kisan Melas have become stagnant, lacking significant innovations. A partnership between universities and tech startups is crucial to introduce fresh ideas and drive sustainable practices that benefit farmers and the environment. Focus on agricultural studies that incorporate technology and innovation. Leverage Mobile Technology Use mobile apps for crop management, market access, and weather forecasting. Collaborate with platforms offering AI-powered solutions for smallholder farmers. Start Small with Precision Farming Invest in affordable precision farming tools like soil sensors and GPS devices. Apply AI insights to optimize yields and manage resources. Innovation and Entrepreneurship Create AI-based solutions tailored to Kenyan agriculture challenges, such as crop disease detection or market pricing tools. Collaborate with tech hubs like iHub in Nairobi to develop and scale ideas. Government and NGO Programs Participate in youth-oriented agricultural programs promoting tech integration. Seek grants and support for agri-tech startups. Community Engagement Train and educate fellow young farmers about AI’s benefits in agriculture. Form cooperatives to pool resources and access better technology. Collaborate with Universities and Research Centers Partner with institutions conducting AI research in agriculture. 🌱 Exciting Milestone: Graduation Thesis Approved! 🌱 I am thrilled to share that my graduation thesis, titled “Enhancing Sustainable Cricket (Acheta domesticus) Farming through Locally Sourced Diets for Small-Scale Farmers,” has officially been approved by my advisor, Dr. Walter Ndonkeu Tita, PhD. With the rapid growth of the insect farming industry, crickets have emerged as a promising, efficient alternative protein source. As the demand for sustainable food production rises, my research is dedicated to addressing key challenges by focusing on small-scale farmers. The aim is to create locally sourced, cost-effective diets using agricultural waste, making cricket farming accessible even to low-income communities. For this study, rice bran and cassava leaves were utilized as feed ingredients. Interestingly, the diet with equal proportions of these components showed excellent results, performing almost on par with commercial chicken concentrate—the most widely used feed in the industry today. This reinforces the potential for agricultural by-products to drive sustainable, low-cost insect production. This journey has been an incredible learning experience. I am especially grateful to my research partner, Ing. Birtukan Feyisa, for her dedication and collaboration throughout the process. A heartfelt thank you also to Universidad EARTH for funding the research, and to Ing. Mauricio Segura Araya for providing invaluable material support. This accomplishment is not just a personal achievement; it marks an important step forward in the world of sustainable agriculture and research. I look forward to contributing further to this evolving field and driving innovative solutions that empower farmers and promote a more sustainable future.

iCPF (chicken, hydroponics and fish) has been tested by Nottingham Business school and has shown to be very effective in India. We are bringing a modified version that can help most low income Nigeria in these trying times. Ours is going to be Integrated Chicken (layers and broilers), rabbit, chicken and hydroponics. The modified feature is the inclusion of a black soldier larva and fly section and a place to make azolla grow so it can be a circular system, and very reduced cost of chicken and rabbit feed.
