Oggi, la ricerca di talenti specializzati in questo campo è veramente altissima. A Polimoda, riceviamo continue richieste da parte di fashion brand alla ricerca (oserei dire disperata oramai)di studenti che abbiano studiato questi argomenti, ed è molto complesso soddisfare questa crescente necessità. È il momento di comunicare in modo più efficace quanto sia importante scegliere di concentrarsi sul design degli accessori. Bisogna raccontare in modo più coinvolgente alla Gen-z non solo le numerose opportunità di carriera, ma anche l'occasione unica di poter esplorare la propria creatività in modo inaspettato (pensate a tutto il mondo sneakers). Partiamo allora da qui. Due esempi, due talenti: i nostri #alumni Michele e Chiara, che dopo colloqui con prestigiosi brand, hanno iniziato i loro stage in due case di moda iconiche (per ora non possiamo direi i nomi per ovvi motivi di privacy professionale). Abbiamo avuto il piacere di parlare di questo tema anche con la nostra advisor An Vandevorst, che ha riassunto perfettamente il valore di questo settore in una frase subito iconica: "If I were to start a brand today, it would definitely be an accessories brand." WHERE DO ALL THE ACCESSORIES DESIGN GRADUATES GO? | With employment near-guaranteed, we investigate the high demand yet subsiding supply from fashion schools across the globe of Fashion Accessories Design graduates The demand for professionals in this sector is at an all time high. Anecdotal evidence suggests that from all fashion schools the supply of new graduates is struggling to keep up and therefore, those who graduate, according to their talent, are almost guaranteed job opportunities across the board at some of the most significant names and brands. To understand this disconnect between demand and supply of accessories designers we spoke to industry expert, fashion designer and advisor of our design department, An Vandevorst and Polimoda Undergraduate Fashion Accessories Design alumni, Chiara Cherici and Michele Ferretti, who have secured internships at two of the most salient names in fashion immediately after graduation.

Its been a huge pressure going on during internship days at SQUARE FASHIONS LTD as luckily this factory provided me access to learn every segment of Textile Industry. Being both Textile Engineer & Fashion Designer trying to develop a new dress with my team from designing to produce apparel utilising whole supply chain. So far, its been hectic & tough journey due to shortage of time & currently on the halfway of the development process. The initial success of the whole idea is, we've successfully developed our own designed fabric after multiple attempts with Jacquard Machine of Knitting floor. Although got successful in bringing our design on the fabric surface but learned a lot. The main teaching that I've learned is designing is easy but making it meaningful is the toughest thing & this is what actually needs to be done 🧶 . #textileinnovation #textiledesign #learninganddevelopment #supplychain #fashiondesigner

From her first apprenticeship in fashion design all the way to ERA‘s CPO… 🙌 Our Chief Product Officer, Barbara, joined us this January and brought with her extensive expertise in creating and implementing services and products related to data and strategy. Barbara started her career with an apprenticeship in fashion design and worked her way up in the media world at ERA. She loves anything DIY and has been working on several projects since moving into a new apartment this year. Curious about what drives her, both in her career and beyond? Check out her answers down below! ⬇️ 💬 Barbara, what did you learn from your apprenticeship in fashion design? 💁♀️ I learned that there is no more creative and better outcome than coming up with something wild and creative first and then figuring out how to achieve it. Sometimes things are highly achievable through many small steps. Sometimes you have to learn a new technique. But sometimes it's just about being flexible enough to slightly modify the goal in the "backend" while still maintaining the same visual effect. Fashion is our strongest form of personal expression, showing the world who we are. To best understand the person in front of you, it is helpful to look at their outfit. What are they trying to communicate? What is genuine, and what purpose does a particular outfit serve? 💬 What makes you passionate about your role as CPO? 💁♀️ I am equally a creative and a strategic/logical thinker. My job allows me to explore both directions. Data may sound structured and predetermined to many people. However, data can answer numerous questions and is, especially for curious people like me, a way to understand things quickly and accurately. Numbers can help choose entirely different approaches and then use creative methods to develop real and new solutions for products, strategies and concepts. 💬 Which current DIY projects are you working on? 💁♀️ I moved a few months ago and have done a million things. Right now, it's a bit quieter on that front, and I'm focusing on settling into my new home. However, my Pinterest board is already packed, and it won't be long before I start a new project. Recently, goldsmithing and sand casting have been among my hobbies, and I am excited to see what will captivate me next. 💬 What does “ERA of You” mean to you? 💁♀️ In our daily life at ERA, everything revolves around communities. I find it very inclusive while still giving space to be oneself and allowing new communities to emerge from various individual formats. I see "ERA of You" as an essential part of "ERA of Us," which, for me, forms the base of "We Are Era” itself. Many individuals coming together to create something new over and over again, always building on the strengths and contributions of each person.
