=English follows Japanese= 先週開催されたIVS 2024 KYOTOのメインステージにて、「上場へのマイルストーン～注目のスタートアップがIPO＆スウィングバイIPOを語る」というテーマで、MUIPのKanako Satoがモデレーターとして登壇いたしました 😊 本セッションには、MUFGからのデット支援を受け、今年6月に上場を果たしたアストロスケールホールディングス 松山CFO、2022年MUFGの子会社入りを果たし、IPOを目指すカンム 八巻CEOと、スタートアップへの総合支援サポートを取りまとめている三菱UFJ銀行の塚原氏が登壇し、大企業の支援によるスタートアップの成長戦略についてが語られました。   同日はメインステージの他、弊社Takashi Sanoが5FステージでモデレーターとしてInsignia Ventures PartnersのYinglan TanCEOと登壇、グローバル投資家から見た日本のスタートアップエコシステムについてや、日本のスタートアップが今後グローバル投資家の注目を集めるために必要なことなどを議論しました🌏   また、今年のIVSではMUIP初となるサイドイベントをSaison Capitalと開催。MUIPの東南アジア投資責任者である廣田 隆介を含めたCVC投資担当者（Saison venturesのFumihide URATA氏, R3D3 VenturesのColin Cheung氏、Saison CapitalのQin En Looi氏が登壇。スタートアップがCVCからの資金調達をする上でのメリット・デメリットや、資金調達を受ける上でのスタートアップが持つべき視点と戦略、日本におけるCVCの置かれている状況が、今後どのように変化していくのかについて議論がなされました。   今回のIVSではMUIPとして各業種の様々な方々と繋がることができ、非常に有意義な時間となりました。今後もMUFGのCVCとして、海外および日本のスタートアップエコシステムに貢献できるよう活動してまいります 💪 We had a great time with lots of takeaways from IVS 2024 Kyoto last week. Some of our team members were busy with some of the event activities.    🔷 Main Stage Investment Associate Kanako Sato took the stage to moderate the session about "Journey to IPO: Perspectives of high profile startups about IPOs and Swing-by IPOs". This session, which featured the following panellists, discussed growth strategies for startups with the support of large corporates.  - Nobuhiro Matsuyama, CFO of Astroscale Holdings, which went public in June this year with MUFG's debt support - Wataru Yamaki, CEO of Kanmu, which became a subsidiary of MUFG in 2022 and is aiming for an IPO and MUFG Bank,  - Shinsuke Tsukahara, Managing Director of MUFG Bank, who coordinates comprehensive support for startups  🔶 Side Stage In addition to the main stage, Takashi Sano, Chief Investment Officer of MUIP took the floor with Yinglan Tan, CEO of Insignia Ventures Partners to discuss about the Japanese start-up ecosystem from the perspectives of global investors and what Japanese startups need to do to attract the attention of global investors in the future.    🔥 Fireside Chat Event We also held a side event in collaboration with Saison Capital. 廣田 隆介, Director of MUIP who heads up investment in Southeast Asia, came together with the following panellists to discuss the pros and cons of startups raising funds from CVCs, perspectives and strategies startups should have when receiving funding, and how they forsee the situation of CVC evolving in Japan in the future. - Fumihide URATA, Saison Ventures - Colin Cheung, R3D3 Ventures - Qin En Looi Saison Capital This year's IVS was a meaningful event that allowed the MUIP team to meet a wide range of people from various industries. PT Bank Danamon Indonesia, Tbk. (BDMN) and MUFG Innovation Partners (MUIP) enter into a strategic partnership to strengthen financial inclusion in Indonesia. The partnership was realized through an investment placement in Qoala , an insurtech startup company, through MUFG Innovation Garuda No. 1 Limited Investment Partnership (Garuda Fund). Garuda Fund, a collaboration between MUFG, MUIP, and Danamon, has allocated a total fund of US$100 million for the investment period of 2023-2028. MUIP President and CEO Nobutake Suzuki stated, "Insurance penetration in Indonesia is still quite low, even when compared to regional markets. We appreciate Qoala's omni-channel approach to marketing insurance, which is very suitable for increasing access to untapped markets for insurance products. Ivan Jaya, Consumer Funding & Wealth Business Head of Danamon, said that in the midst of private funding conditions which fall by more than 85% in 2023, Danamon together with MUFG and MUIP are continuing to strive to support startups by becoming local and global financial partners that provide various financial solutions and conveniences. "Through this initiative, we hope to be a real solution in providing banking products, one of which is insurance products that are more easily accessible digitally through the Qoala application, especially for customers who already have future financial plans such as young professionals, or customers who "new/already married which in the end is expected to encourage Indonesia's economic growth.” Tommy Martin, Deputy CEO and Co-Founder of Qoala, welcomed the support provided by Danamon and MUIP. “We appreciate the support from Danamon and MUIP through the Garuda Fund.
