Today is the final day of our two-day training workshop for community facilitators from Mukuru kwa Reuben, Viwandani, and Kayaba, held at the Mukuru Skills Training Centre. The training focused on the Survivor Community-Led Response (SCLR) approach, aimed at empowering crisis-affected communities to take the lead in improving their own well-being and addressing vulnerabilities. Our facilitators will now play a crucial role in advocating for this approach, fostering experiential learning, and helping groups access the resources they need to bring their initiatives to life.

We've just begun a two-day training workshop for community facilitators from Mukuru kwa Reuben, Viwandani, and Kayaba. This workshop, hosted at the Mukuru Skills Training Centre, is focused on building capacity in the Survivor Community-Led Response (SCLR) approach. The aim is to scale up and amplify the efforts of crisis-affected communities as they work together to strengthen communal well-being, advocate for inclusive change, and address the root causes of vulnerability. Our facilitators will play a key role in helping communities access the resources they need, while promoting experiential learning and sustainable initiatives.

In 2010, the village of Matopeni in Mombasa County embarked on a transformative journey with our support. Faced with substandard living conditions, 81 community members pooled their resources, launching a savings-driven project to improve their homes. With AMT's financial and technical assistance, they've replaced traditional makuti roofs with durable ironsheets, upgraded doors, walls, floors, and enhanced sanitation facilities. We are committed to making a tangible difference in the lives of communities. The Nakuru Housing Project is a shining example of what we can achieve together. Through the collective savings and determination of the Nakuru West Network, 8 acres of land were purchased, and over 250 homes have been constructed. This has provided safe, permanent housing to members who previously lived in temporary, poor-quality structures.
