It has been a week of unlearning, learning, and relearning as I took part in a Gender Responsive Reporting and Communication Training of Trainers delivered by the Aga Khan University and funded by Advancing Gender Equality through Civil Society (AGECS), a sub-project of the Aga Khan Foundation. Our training equipped us, as media and communication practitioners, to enact inclusive policies and facilitate impactful gender-focused training, thereby promoting gender-responsive communications and media coverage. Aga Khan University Graduate School of Media and Communications hosted us for in-person sessions for the MASC programme last week. One of my highlights was a mental health awareness session facilitated by Prof Lukoye Atwoli. This was a timely talk for me as I was actually battling with the issue at my workplace. My takeaway was nobody can take care of my mental wellness better than me; self awareness and setting boundaries are key for one to have a positive sense of wellbeing. One of the quotes that stood out for me is, one must be able to, "Lead self in order lead others and then lead the organization." #mentalhealth #mentalwellness #selfawareness

I recently completed an 8 weeks program on Strategic Digital Communication at the Aga Khan University Graduate School of Media and Communications 👌 I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Aga Khan University Graduate School of Media and Communications for the incredible experience I had during that period, and to Kenya Mortgage Refinance Company for the constant support through capacity building and career development. The program which was aimed at developing skills in strategic digital communications, crafting of compelling messages for target audiences and creating an ideal strategic digital communications plan aimed at helping organizations effectively communicate specifically targeted messages, goals and values to key audiences to achieve identified objectives. The course was specifically designed for and focused on the best practices and industry standards that are essential for anyone looking to enhance their skills in marketing and communication. The hands on exercises and real world scenarios have largely impacted me both at a personal and professional level. I am particularly thankful for the great interactions with both the faculty and the great team of participants, the discussions have strengthened my professional network. #SkillDevelopment #CareerGrowth #DigitalCommunication
