Banana value addition by-product became a menace in the factory as we were not anticipating. But with the support of MESPT we are able to finish this challenge. The solution was simple, feed black solder flies with the waste in the process we got the rich protein raw material for animal feeds. At the same time farmers accessed organic fertilizer. About us
We make animal feeds, for smallholder farmers in my rural community in Western Kenya.This helps them to increase production of protein rich eggs, milk and chicken meat. We also help farmers reduce post-harvest waste of bananas. It is important to emphasis that my animal feeds customers are the same farmers who sell bananas to my company. I buy bananas from these farmers. I process bananas to flour and chips.The by-products we make animal feeds. We give farmers free training on animal husbandry and banana farming.The free training, helps farmers to increase produce of bananas, which they sell to me. They get more money to buy my animal feeds. This training, is the center to my entire business. Farmers increase their income and my company gets high quality raw materials.
