This is about to be longgg! (Probably a life-changing experience for me, -well, all experiences are but- this has reminded me so much about myself and shown me how much I can achieve!) Buckle up.
Reflecting on #IEEEXtreme18.0, I can honestly say it was an unforgettable experience filled with learning, laughter, and late-night problem-solving. I remember getting a text from Abraham Mwaura, hinting I was about to be the IEEEXtreme Ambassador. Yet here we were, months later, at 6 am on October 27th, packing up the Graduate School room, semi-clean and semi-exhausted, thinking, we really did this.
That morning felt surreal as I called Ian Chege, MIEEE, only to get sleepy replies, while Javan Otieno , MIEEE couldn’t even pick up😂. But I couldn’t stop smiling as I walked home, knowing we’d poured so much into these 24 hours, each moment pushing us, each challenge reshaping us as competitors and friends. By Sunday morning, we’d earned what was probably the most fulfilling sleep we’d had in weeks.
#IEEEXtreme 18.0 taught us perseverance and gave us the confidence to aim for even greater heights. The camaraderie and support were unmatched, from Dalton Opondo, Edward Lorenz and Samuel M. Kiragu training sessions that sharpened our skills to the dedication of Javan Otieno , MIEEE our ever-calm anchor who guided the IEEE JKUAT SB to Isiah Okoth Odhiambo who was a sound advisor when I was in panic😅. Erick Gitonga was resilient and resourceful throughout, always showing up with solutions. Dalton Opondo, VICTOR KAMAU and Lavenda Shipichira ,MIEEE (our Kenya Ones🤩) proved what you can accomplish with determination, and Abraham Mwaura’s leadership kept me on my toes every step of the way. I am so glad I got to work with such a brilliant mind! Angela Wangui, my steadfast partner, thank you for holding down the fort by my side.
A huge thank you to our proctors, Alex Watila, SMIEEE, SMACM who was always available(even really late, trying to beat deadlines) and Charles Onyango, who swooped in and saved the day(s), whose experience with, has taught me to lean on others. John Matogo, thank you so much for coming in when you did, you were a blessing to us.
And, of course, RedBull Kenya, who came through when our energies were tanking.
IEEEXtreme a big thank you for this opportunity!
This experience was more than just competition; it was connection, growth, and an unforgettable story of teamwork. Here’s to aiming even higher in #IEEEXtreme 19.0!
Okay Bye😌
