An Africa free of vector-borne diseases
About us
The Pan-African Mosquito Control Association (PAMCA) is an African led non-profit organization devoted to improving the health and wellbeing of Africans by making high impact investments in the reduction of mosquitoes and mosquito borne diseases affecting human health. PAMCA exists to provide technical support and coordination to reduce malaria and other related vector borne diseases in Africa. The PAMCA platform facilitates improved information sharing, capacity building and shapes decision making processes in order to maximize the impact of vector control by catalysing the development of innovative, cost effective, scalable and sustainable health interventions in Africa. PAMCA brings together various experts in research and academia, governmental and non-governmental organizations, international agencies, civil society and other strategic partners to form networks, disseminate research, and influence public health policy primarily in Africa, and ultimately, across the globe. Its overall aim is to connect African scientists and other stakeholders, to work together, through adopting common approaches to tackling mosquito borne diseases across the African continent.

🌍 Celebrating Women in Vector Control: Champions in the Fight Against Malaria! 💜 Vector control is one of the most critical interventions in the fight to end malaria, and behind its success are dedicated, passionate, and resilient women working tirelessly to make a difference. From research and field operations to policymaking and program implementation, women in vector control are at the forefront of driving innovation, ensuring sustainability, and advancing malaria elimination efforts across Africa and beyond. Today, PAMCA Pan-African Mosquito Control Association celebrates all the incredible women engaged in vector control—your passion, sacrifices, and unwavering commitment are paving the way for a malaria-free world. Your work saves lives, strengthens communities, and inspires future generations of scientists, entomologists, and public health leaders. 💪 To all women in vector control—keep fighting, keep pushing boundaries, and keep inspiring young women to pursue careers in this field. Your expertise, leadership, and determination are crucial to the future of malaria elimination. We encourage aspiring female vector control specialists to take advantage of the Women in Vector Control (WiVC) program at PAMCA—an initiative that provides mentorship, empowerment, and capacity strengthening to help women grow in their careers and become role models for future vector control experts. Let’s continue to empower, uplift, and promote women in this essential field! A huge thank you to all the mentors, PAMCA chapter leaders and members, PAMCA board members, and all stakeholders and collaborative institutions supporting and advancing women in vector control—including CRIDCam, Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), Ifakara Health Institute, IRSS Burkina Faso/Centre Muraz, CREC-LSHTM Collaborative Research Programme, MRTC-Parasito NIMRTanzania, & many more. Few more days to go!
📢 Exciting Opportunity! We are pleased to share with you that our partner at IVCC (Innovative Vector Control Consortium) has launched a call for proposals to advance vector control tools for malaria by addressing the critical gaps in the existing toolbox. While current methods primarily target indoor mosquito behavior, we’re looking for Proof of Concept (PoC) projects that hat target aspects of the mosquito lifecycle beyond indoor feeding and resting. This is a chance for stakeholders across geographies and disciplines to contribute to the malaria fight with fresh ideas and technologies. Today marked a significant moment in my journey as a recipient of the Women in Vector Control Excellence Award—my team and I successfully hosted the very first Women in Vector Control Workshop in Malawi. The workshop’s primary goal was to bring women together to inspire and uplift one another while reinforcing their pivotal roles in the fight against vector-borne diseases. It was a day filled with wisdom, encouragement, and invaluable insights from three extraordinary women who have profoundly influenced my career. ✨ Prof. Hilary Ranson: Delivered a powerful talk emphasizing the importance of networks and their role in advancing our collective efforts in vector control, Three decades of growth and innovation. ✨ Prof. Janelisa Musaya: Shared her personal journey of breaking the glass ceiling, inspiring everyone in the room to pursue their dreams relentlessly and overcome barriers. ✨ Dr. Damaris Matoke: Spoke passionately about the vision of Women in Vector Control (WIVC) and the critical need for gender equality in research, leaving us with a call to action to champion this cause. ✨ Dr. Elizabeth Bandason: Concluded the day with an empowering session, urging us to push to the limit and multiply ourselves—professionally, personally, and in all aspects of our lives. This workshop was not just an event but a platform for growth, empowerment, and collaboration among women committed to making a difference in public health and vector control. I am deeply grateful for the speakers, participants, and my incredible team who made this day possible. Here’s to building stronger networks and creating lasting impact together! 💪🌍 Thank you to PAMCA Pan-African Mosquito Control Association, @pamca_wivc, Yankho Mthindi, Rachael Kamphale, Damaris Matoke-Muhia, Hilary Ranson, Janelisa Musaya, and Elizabeth Bandason #WomenInVectorControl #Empowerment #PublicHealth #Leadership #Collaboration
