The Energy Entrepreneurs Growth Fund (EEGF) has expanded its investment in Candi Solar, a leading solar energy provider for commercial and industrial businesses in South Africa and India. This support will help Candi Solar scale its innovative solar and battery solutions, making clean energy more accessible and cost-effective for SMEs. With a contracted capacity of over 150MWp across 150 projects, Candi Solar aims to cumulatively reach an installed capacity of over 1GW by 2030, servicing over 1,000 businesses and exploring expansion into additional sub-Saharan African countries. Yesterday, Persistent's Venture Builder, Jess Rono, attended the 12th Sankalp Forum's Africa Summit in #Nairobi representing GET.invest. This year's summit, themed "Scaling Africa's Entrepreneurs," brought together over 1,500 global leaders, investors, and entrepreneurs to focus on investment, innovation, and sustainability. The discussions highlighted the importance of unlocking funding for businesses, enabling them to scale and drive meaningful impact. Jess joined the conversation on the challenges and opportunities in the sector, she recounts, "Access to capital remains one of the biggest barriers for African entrepreneurs. At Sankalp, it was clear that beyond funding, businesses need strategic support to scale sustainably. Bridging this gap requires patient capital and ecosystem collaboration." The goal of the visit was to conduct an operational field assessment - evaluating sustainability, market potential and community impact - while also refining the company’s commercial and fundraising strategy to support its growth.   ☀ Kiru Energy delivers reliable #solar powered solutions tailored for SMEs and residential customers in urban areas. This visit involved engaging with Kiru’s customers at a local market in Lagos to gain real-world insights into their experiences with the product, supporting efforts to enhance customer traction and secure MFI financing.   The visits were carried out by Energy 4 Impact and Persistent, two of the eight advisory firms implementing the #FinanceReadiness Support, a GET.invest service specifically supporting earlier-stage, domestic companies to become ready for #investment. The Persistent team attended the Africa Tech Summit 2025 from February 11 to 13 in Nairobi, connecting with industry leaders, investors, and entrepreneurs shaping Africa’s tech and investment landscape. It was great to see our partner company, agrails, represented by CEO Mwenda M., on the panel "Tech Meets Resilience: Charting Africa’s Climate Transformation A Decade In." The discussion explored how technology is driving resilience and adaptation in the face of climate challenges and the opportunities emerging for businesses and communities.
