Ecosystem enabler through Economic Empowerment for Youth & Young Female Entrepreneurs || Events || Community || Advocate for Sustainability in passion Entrepreneurs

What a Powerful way to start the year! It was an honour hosting the YALI Regional Leadership Center East Africa leadership at our office Swazuri Events As a beneficiary of Transformation Fund round 1, my organization has been able to help young entrepreneurs from Jomvu, Changamwe & Mvita constituencies open bank accounts, start book keeping for their businesses, improve their confidence in business, start digital marketing and have a community of entrepreneurs where they tap into one another for resources and support. This is just the beginning of good things to come. Thank you for supporting and nurturing our dreams to realities in our communities. Karibuni tena na tena. #impact #communities #youthempowerment #womenempowerment #girlpower #entrepreneurship #entrepreneurs #capacitybuilding #impactstories

Yesterday, we had the privilege of connecting with our alumnus Everlyne Oyagi , founder of Swazuri Events, who is making a significant impact through her Tuinuane Project—part of the Girl Power Business Initiative. The Tuinuane Project has empowered 270 young women entrepreneurs in Mombasa County(across Changamwe, Jomvu, and Mvita constituencies) by providing them with the tools to build smart, sustainable businesses. Through this initiative, Eva is helping to create a future with more successful African female founders. It’s incredible to witness how projects like these are shaping the next generation of leaders and innovators. *One year anniversary as Founder & Executive Director of a Community Based Organization in Mombasa* Kuza Youth as a community Based organization was founded in 2023 as an objective of Swazuri Events. This was inspired by our project #TuinuaneProgram which was a social economic empowerment program executed in Jomvu, Changamwe and Mvita constituency where we trained 270 female entrepreneurs around access to capital, access to market, digital skills for business and design thinking. This program was funded by USAID, YALI Regional Leadership Center East Africa and Kenyatta University through the transformation fund. At Kuza Youth we offer Capacity Building for local youths especially females in semi-urban areas in business and entrepreneurship to help them unlock their potential for success. Kuza Youth currently sits in Mombasa county, Jomvu constituency , Miritini ward. We believe that empowerment at grassroot levels enables the youth to operate from from an equal level in matters access to information and skills to help them stand a chance to thrive at what they choose to pursue. Running Kuza Youth CBO for one full year has been eye opening about championing for grassroot empowerment. Here are five lessons so far about my journey in this non-profit sector: 1. Understand your WHY. This sounds like a cliche but understanding your WHY will keep you going through the different seasons of the organization. Passion isn't enough to keep you going, you need to fundraise for resources, you need people among many more. 2. Team - You need people to help you achieve the organization's mission and vision. This is not like solopreneurship where you can wear different hats and execute, you need different skills and talents in your team to excel 3. Patience- The journey of grant writing and fundraising isn't as easy as it looks. Regardless of how much you are passionate about what you are doing, you need to understand the skills needed in executing successful proposals and where you can't, onboard someone in your team 4. Sustainability - It is paramount to think from early on how the organization will sustain itself where funding isn't available or takes time. This ensures continuity of your activities regardless of the season. Start early on to explore ways to keep the organization afloat. 5. Practice Design Thinking - Embrace co-creating solutions that are Youth-owned and Youth-led. This way, the buy in is easier from the people you are seeking to work with to create change. Don't assume people need the solutions in your head, find mobilization strategies that are inline with their culture and seek to co-create solutions. The above 5 points are my current key takeaways but for sure i have many more lessons that i'll keep sharing as we go. To anyone running a non-profit entity, what advice would you share with me to keep me going and growing? Today we celebrate International Youth Day with the theme: Clicks to progress, Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development. This theme is an acknowledgement and reminder of how we can leverage on digital technology to achieve Sustainable Development At Swazuri Events and Kuza Youth , advocating for digital literacy among the youth especially among female entrepreneurs in urban areas and grassroot levels is a key activity we continuously undertake. We understand the importance of using whichever digital platform one has access to, to help in their economic empowerment. By positioning oneself in the accessible platform, our youths are able to advance their knowledge and learn how to boost their businesses, harness their skills, talents and passion by accessing a wider market, engaging with clients therefore increasing their revenue. Thanks to organizations such as YALI Regional Leadership Center East Africa , USAID and Kenyatta University who through their capacity building initiatives such as the Transformation fund, we have been able to scale our work to youths in the grassroot levels within Jomvu, Changamwe and Mvita constituencies. Thanks to partners such as Joseph Makau who spearheads Ajira Digital Program within Jomvu constituency. Through their office we have built the capacity of 270 female entrepreneurs of digital skills for business. This is just the beginning of transforming lives and building communities. Championing for #youthempowerment might be an uphill task but it is the most fulfilling role one can ever do. We celebrate all the youths today. Our time is now. #youthempowerment #internationalyouthday #buildingcommunities #entrepreneurship #entrepreneur

✨ On Saturday Swazuri Events hosted an inspiring hybrid workshop tailored for Young female entrepreneurs in Nairobi. It was an honor to have Emmanuel Nandokha share insights and strategies with these incredible women who are driven to build and scale their businesses. His sharp business acumen left the ladies thinking through the basics of their businesses. Something most young passionate entrepreneurs overlook. Their resilience and desire to invest in themselves is truly important in shaping Africa's entrepreneurial landscape. Together we are fostering a supportive community that upskill female entrepreneurs so that we have more successful female entrepreneurs in Africa. We are looking forward to seeing the amazing growth and success stories that will emerge from this dynamic group!✨ #entrepreneurship #womeninbusiness #empowerment #businessgrowth #innovation #leadership #africanentrepreneurs #femalefounders
