Men’s Role in SGBV Prevention: Advocating for male inclusion in the fight against SGBV. Challenging Norms: Debating the importance of empowering women while addressing men’s perspectives on GBV. 𝑹𝒆𝒇𝒍𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒏 𝑶𝒏𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑴𝒊𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒔 𝒐𝒇 2024: 𝑴𝒚 𝒀𝑨𝑳𝑰 𝑱𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒚🌍✨ As I reflect on the milestones of 2024, I am thrilled to share that one of the most significant moments has been my selection for the YALI Regional Leadership Center East Africa program, Cohort 59, in Civic Leadership. Midway through last year, I applied for YALI for the first time, not knowing what to expect, but I was determined to embrace the opportunity. To my delight, I was selected to participate, and it has been an incredibly rewarding experience. 🙌🎉 This journey has been filled with invaluable lessons. I've not only enhanced my leadership skills but also deepened my understanding of community engagement, collaboration, and advocating for positive change. Through 𝒈𝒖𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒍𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆𝒔, 𝒑𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝒔𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒇𝒊𝒆𝒍𝒅 𝒗𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒔, I’ve learned how to better serve my community and make a real impact on the ground. 📚🌱 One of the most significant aspects of this experience has been the 𝒏𝒆𝒕𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈  opportunities. I vividly remember the moments during YALI when I connected with dedicated professionals and peers who shared the same commitment to growth and positive change. Every night, we exchanged knowledge, supported one another, and shared opportunities that helped us grow both personally and professionally. These connections have been invaluable in broadening my network and have enriched my journey. 🤝🌍 A key influence throughout this program has been the 7 𝑯𝒂𝒃𝒊𝒕𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝑯𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒍𝒚 𝑬𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑷𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆. These principles have shaped my approach to leadership, productivity, and relationships. Applying these habits has provided me with tools for both personal and professional growth. 💡📈 Every interaction, session, and challenge has been an opportunity to learn and grow. Whether networking with fellow leaders, engaging in thought-provoking discussions, or collaborating on innovative ideas, each experience has expanded my perspective. The opportunity to pitch ideas and work with such an inspiring group of individuals has been a transformative highlight. 💬🤩 This program has confirmed my belief that learning is a lifelong process.
