Advocating for social justice among the youth, women and persons with disabilities while integrating technology and data
About us
Uamuzi Foundation is a social enterprise dedicated to advocating for social justice, specifically focusing on the empowerment of youth, women, and persons living with disabilities to achieve equal economic, political, and social rights. Our approach integrates technology and data to address various critical areas including civic engagement, education, leadership, environmental conservation, and peacebuilding. We are deeply committed to aligning our efforts with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly emphasizing gender equality (Goal 5), industry and innovation (Goal 9), climate action (Goal 13), peace, justice, and strong institutions (Goal 16), and partnerships for the goals (Goal 17). At the core of our foundation lies a dynamic Hub comprising an engineering academy and an innovation lab. The academy aims to refine the skills of young developers through exposure to real-time projects and collaborative team setups. Simultaneously, our innovation lab nurtures projects that effectively tackle prevailing societal issues. Within this hub, we've developed the Uamuzi social networking platform, meaning "decision" in Swahili, with a specific aim to democratize youth participation in governance at all levels in Kenya. This platform facilitates meaningful engagement among youth, enables interactions with their representatives, provides timely access to credible information, and fosters an environment where individuals can freely voice their concerns. Furthermore, our foundation operates a dedicated volunteering group, engaging young individuals in addressing community challenges to transform the pace and nature of local development. This program not only benefits society by addressing pressing issues but also fosters trust, solidarity, and participation among individuals, ultimately creating opportunities for collective growth.
